Important Tips About NDA AFSB*

It all depend on Boldness and great Confidence for one to make the Nigerian Defence Academy Armed Forces Selection Board. My dear Fellow citizens please try and follow these steps below that am about to List out. if you are truly determine to Pass NDA AFSB.But Befor I do that Let me Give you a little guard line on how to go about NDAEE(Nigerian Defence Academy Entrance Examination). Get an NDA compendium, try and study from 2000 to 2019 and ensure you back up your study with text book. Do not waste your time in one question but ensure you answer all the questions before leaving the hall. Then Lastly know your current affair (For PSDS). Please Note this: what am about to tell you now is base on Experience and also from other informations I gathered when I was fighting to gain ADMISSION into NDA. whatever I tell you will be very helpful to you aslong as NDA AFSB is concern.

Now these are the steps to Follow:

1. Make sure you go for medical check up befor applying for NDA in order to know if you are medically fit enough and incase you have a critical medical problem so that there will be enough time for you to treat it before going for AFSB. NOTE: No miracle On earth can ever Happen to you when you are not Medically fit even if you have the strongest godfather on earth. Medical screening in NDA AFSB is one of the toughest and Deadly part during the selection because it can eliminate or disqualify almost a full state. As we go further, I will give you the break down of the test been conducted out there.

2. Immediately after your NDA Entrance Exam start doing some physical Exercises such as push up, sit up, pull up, this pull up will help you alot because it will enable you to carry your weight when climbing the Last rope during the individual Obstacle Crossing. Also start jogging immediately, try and increase your speed when jogging, establish a particular pace or a constant pace which you can start with and also endup with without stopping or gassing out during the race.NOTE: don't be too fast or too Slow when jogging, just maintain a constant speed. The importance of this race is to control your breathing habit and also build your Endurance Spirit. If you don't like running you better start it now unless you want to apply again.

3. Start reading current affairs, try and know whats going around the World, Study much about your state, Known the names of governors in Nigeria and also solving some basic mathematics problems such as LCF,HCF,Simplif

ication, factorization etc. This will really help you in your APPITUDE TEST and also for those applying for Engineering Courses, Computer science, physics and Mathematics solve alot of basic mathematical problems because you will solve some maths problems before facing the Board.

4. Stop Every Drugs That you Have been Taking, quit Smoking, Alcoholic Drink and Make Sure you Always Drink alot of water in order to filter every Toxic substances from your body especially if you have been Taking Drugs alot.

5. Make sure all your Credentials are correct and Complete. You will blame yourself if You are disqualified because of your Credentials.

6. Buy all the Necessary Items required For the interview. It is better you go with extra items incase you misplace or Damage anyone of them. When going for Afsb, ensure you go with provisions such as: Tea, Milk, Cornflakes, biscuit etc. It is Allowed. Don't go and be acting like a don there. Its all about yourself alone to make it not others(Na Only You Waka Come

REPORTING FOR AFSB

Stage1(REGISTRATION)

On Arrival for The Afsb, candidate will be Searched. Phones, Sharp object, and other Devices will be Searched for. Make sure you don't go in With your phone otherswise it will be condemned in front of your very eyes. But if you are smart enough you can smugle it in(but its not Advisable). After the Searching Operation is Concluded. You will be asked to say your name then the NDA officials who are incharge of Candidates Registration for AFSB will have to check for your name if truly your name was shortlisted. After that you will be given a Chest number which occurs according to how your name appears on The Exam List. It will be counted backwardly, Mine appeared in no.8 on the List so Automatically my chest no. Was ED43 .This Chest number will be your Identity. Your name Will be your chest number as long as NDA AFSB is concern(LoL) funny right?.. Then After The Registration, you will be marched to the Drill Shed where Credentials Screening and Assessment will take place Immediately.

Stage 2(CREDENTIALS SCREENING)

Your Neco or Waec Scratch Card will be collected from you while if you don't have, you will pay an amount of money for the Card. Then you will be issued a form to fill. You will have to write your name, your Waec or Neco Exam no., the grade you have in your certificate, your Age, your jamb registration no. Etc. After writting it, you will then submit it along side with your duplicated Certificates to AFSB staff in charge of your state. Make sure all your certificates is complete and All your information provided are correct because this is where your Screening starts from.

All your certificates and details from the day you reported will be documented in a special file which will later be passed on to the boardmen if you eventually scale through all the elimination stages. Then the Credentials Screening Result will be called after some days. So those found guilty with their Certificates will be sent Home..

Stage3(PYSCHOLOGICAL TEST)

Formally, Medical test usually comes immediately after Credentials or certificates Screening but this time around it was changed. This psychological test has to do with your reasoning and ability to think fast and have a good calculation of something. You will be provided with shapes, Lines, pictures to Analyze and Arranged. You will also be faced with some personal questions. The questions is all about yourself. Give them an answer that suits your status otherwise your Arm of service might be change or even your course of study because this is where they want to know who you really are.I was given NA instead Of NN which I also thank God For. I knew I will be Given NA after an Officer told us the reason for the Psychological Test.(Lol. I was Like.... OMG!!! Armmyy!! On point oo). This test is very easy but very easy to fail and be confused. Try and read the questions, analyze the shapes and Lines and understand them before you give your answers.

Stage4(MEDICAL TEST)*LAST ELIMINATION STAGE* AKA THE ALMIGHTY REMOVAL

a.The B.P Test(Blood Pressure)

The first Stage of the medical screening my state did in this 68rc was B.P(Blood Pressure). This stage seems easy and simple but it can easily eliminate almost a full state. Try and keep your heart calm, avoid thinking much especially from the day you report for AFSB. This B.P test disqualified alot of candidates.

b. Height And Weight

This is another simple but a Technical stage of the Afsb Medical test. This is where your Height and Weight will be checked. If you fall short of the requirement you will be disqualified. Alot of candidates were disqualified also because of Height and Weight. This Height and Weight is use to calculate your BMI(Body Mass Index)

The minimum requirment of height for Boys is 1.68m while for girls is 1.50m.

c. Dental Examination

This is the stage where your teeth will be examined to see if it is fautly and properly Arranged. Your teeth wil also be examined to know if it is infected

d. Eye Test

This is the stage where your Eyes will be tested to know if you have any Eye problem. You will be tested for Colour Blindness, long sightedness And Short sightedness. Ensure you read whatever later they ask you to read very very well. Call the alphabet you see very loud. Don't allow fear to deprive you of your success.

e. Physical Medical check up

This is the stage where you will be strip naked, your balls will be checked if it is complete, thats for the boys While for the girls your boobs will be checked. Other things will also be checked for such as flat foot, pile, For pile: you will have to open your anus then bend down and cough very well. They will also check for Tattoos, chest measurement, bow legs, and any surgical Scar or mark and any other abnormality in your body. If it is critical you will be disqualified immediately. This stage is one of the deadliest stage in medical screening... It looks simple but any little error in you might send you back to your father's Village immediately.

f. Electrocardiogram

In this stage, some electrical wires will be placed on your chest i.e to the heart, it will also be place on your legs and hands. Then the machine will start its reading. The essence of this test is to check if your heart functions well and if your breathing Rate is normal. This test is very critical because the result is hardly tempered with. Your godfather can't do anything here if you have any heart problem so it is advisable you do the test befor going.

g. Blood And Urine Test

A smaple of your blood and urine will be collected for laboratory test. The essence is to check your Blood group, Hepatitis B, genotype, HIV status, your sugar Level, if you are a smoker, a drug addict and any other Blood related diseases. This stage is also very vital and Critical because you can't predict if your blood and urine is completely pure and ok at that moment.

h. X-Ray

This is the stage where your chest and bone will be examined in order to see if your bone and chest is in the proper format. You will be told to Breath in and Out for some time.

STAGE5(3.2KM RACE)

Oboy!! Many candidates are always afraid in this stage but it's one of the simplest stage ever only if you follow those tips I gave you initially. The 3.2km race is all about *ENDURANCE*. You can easily make the race only if you go for regular Road work(jogging) at least 3times a week then you have no problem. I started my road work since Last 2years. I was the second person in my state to make the first cage of the race. Well let me give you some Clue about it. You will be told to complete your race between 0sec-18mins for the boys for first Cage, while the girls are to complete their race within 0sec- 22mins for first Cage. Anything below this time will either place you in second Cage, third Cage and Fourth Cage. Don't run too fast immediately the race kick off. Try to get close to those at the front even if they are running faster than you like an Antelope, do not allow them to give you a long space. Close your mouth when running then when you begin to feel heaviness in your heart, huh! just open your mouth a little when you feel very very tired as if you wanna die so that air can penetrate through your mouth and nose in order to gain a proper breathing. You will be given a yellow plastic card as you are running then it will be collected from you after the race. This will enable them to know if you followed the Right route during the race and to also prevent candidates from using the short cut.

Stage6(Aptitude Test)

This stage is were you are required to write an ESSAY and also answer some Objective questions. The objective questions is a random question coming from mathematics, English, Government, And Current Affairs such as football, latest news and event about other foreign countries etc while for other courses you will have to study those guard lines I gave in the introduction. You Will be giving a single Objective answer sheet just like the one they issue to us during our Entrance Exam. While after your objective questions you will also be giving a sheet of paper for your Essay writing. You might be asked by them(Afsb) with this question *WHY DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A MILITARY OFFICER*, *WHY IS NIGERIA A GREAT NATION* etc. Write what you know very well and what you are sure of. Don't Write grammar or try to show that you have Phd in English Language. That is why it is always advisable for you to prepare yourself very well before going for AFSB.

Stage7(Individual Obstacle Crossing)

What is required in this stage is your Endurance and agility. Make sure you drink alot of water and do Some exercise befor proceeding to face this stage. So, this is where those push up, sit up, pull up that you having been doing will be of great help to you. You will be faced with 10 different Obstacles which I can't really name. 1.The first one is coloured red which you will have to jump over without touching it. 2.Then the next one is painted with green, you will have to jump this one with your Hand and Leg touching it because it is a bit higher than that of the Red Pole. ,3. The next on board is crawling with your stomach under some Metal wire. 4. Leaping up with your hands and Legs in order for you to be able to fly the fence(for both Boys and Girls) some candidates can't pass this stage due to their Height. NOTE: You wil be given a score each time you are able to cross each Section of these Obstacles successfully. 5. You will run across a shape that looks like triangle made with block. You must ensure you land on the ground with your two feet together. 6.You will also come across an Obstacle were you will be required to crossover with the rope in front of you. Is very easy to cross (But Some Fat Dudes Like My Biggy Panda Can't Do that or Might find it difficult to swing over) I call it Tazan Crossing because you Will have to hold the rope and swing yourself to the other side without your leg touching the RedRope tied across the pole there. 7.You will come across another Stage which we call *The Monkey Hand Bridge* your push will really help you in this stage because you will have to cross your self with the use of your Hands only without your leg touching the ground. Most candidates always find this part difficult to cross especially the female Candidates. You will also have to swing yourself very well without touching the RedRope tied Across the finish point of this stage.NOTE: Anything Red means Danger or Death while The Green is Save and Friendly. 8. You will come across 2pits, one is wider than the other one. The wider one is for the Bigboys while The smaller one is for The Girls. Make sure you run as fast as you can before jumping it especially for those that are not that tall in height otherwise you may end up having a scratch or injury on your leg. 9.once you get to this stage successfully just have it in mind that you are almost done. You will come across 8Tunnels which you will have to crawl inside and comeout from the otherside. This is where we normally get stained Like pigs and also sustain Injury on the kneel and elbow.

10. This is the last stage which required all that you have been training yourself for and this stage carry's more score than the others. Alot of candidates always have problem in this stage especially the females. Well its abit easy only if you are constant with those exercises I earlier mentioned. Its all about Endurance and brainwork(is not by muscles or power). Immediately you get to this stage make sure your hands are totally dried. If they are not take a sand and rob it on your hands or clean them very well with your cloth for easy climbing and gripping and also in Order to avoid slippery when climbing the Last rope. You will come across a very tall Pole with about 5 or 6 Rope tied on it. Grab one of them and Start climbing. Hold the rope first then you place your right hand at the upper part of the rope above your head then you do thesame to your left and then pull yourself up. It will be in this form 1 2 3 pull, 1 2 3 pull, that is 1(your right hand first should go up when grabbing the rope), 2(Your left hand Should have thesame Alignment with your Right hand you place upward before, then 3(you pull your body upward with your hand holding the rope firmly) and with your legs wrapping the rope. Repeat this procedure up to 8times then you will be very surprise to see yourself at the finish point. NOTE: You must touch or kiss the upper cross bar before coming down then The Officers there will give you your full score. After that you can go and snap many pictures as you desired because you will be certified Physically fit. Haha.

Stage8(Group Obstacle Crossing)

In this stage, your state will be divided into two Or Three groups depending on the total number of candidates who made it out from the Elimination stage. There are many group obstacles in the field but you will only be required to make use of three(3) or four(4) as the Case maybe. The one I know of Is Retrieving the Riffle, Retrieving the Diamond and Retriving the scroll. This 3 group obstacles are very technical so it required alot of thinking before you can do anything. You and your team will be giving just 4mints each to Read each and every obstacle problem there. That is the three. But your group will have to finish one obstacle before proceeding to the next one. In this stage a Leader is Required who will have to give directives on who should go in first and what other activities others in the group should do. The Lightest person is always instructed to go in. But my Advice to you my brothers and sisters is that you should not Stand there Like a Forbidden tree watching. Make sure you do something or if possible try and be the group leader because you will be given an Additional mark if you act as a Leader or partake in the Activities. REMEMBER THIS: your Fellow State Candidate is your Greatest Enemy as far as AFSB Screening Exercise Is Concern that is just the truth Even right from the Day you wrote your EE. So try and do all you can to make a good point in order for you to have a high Chance of being Selected.

Stage9(Modeling)

This stage is also a very technical Stage where your Confidence will be tested to know if you are capable of bringing quick solution to a possible situation.

The modeling comprises of various Populated and Urbanized Areas in Kaduna State. And each of these town have there own various problems that must be tackled urgently by you. you will find different Toys, colours, roads objects, etc there. All of these representing real life Status. Such as Car, boat, house, horse, donkey, tricycle, helicopter, human, tree, river, Ambulance etc. All these are found there.

You will be instructed to Pick a piece of paper from the rest papers there with each of them containing the various problems of each town in kaduna. You will be given just 4mints to read what is inside the paper you choosed(problem). Then after that you will be instructed to keep the paper and Step forward to Explain and give a possible solution to the problem(Some candidates usually turn to Stammerers when it comes to this. Just Like my Friend) NOTE: All the problems in each of the Town present in the Model is written On different papers among which you will choose one of them without knowing the particular town you are about to choose.

Try and understand the problem and also try and view the town in the model as you are Reading it so that you will have a clear understanding of the situation. If you can't understand it then there is no way you can give any answer to the problem in that case you will end up messing yourself up.

Be Bold to face and Talk to them. Do not rush your words as if you have hot rice burning in your mouth. If you are able to conqure this stage!, then you are fully prepared to face the Gallant Board.

Stage10(Facing The Board) Or Judgment Hour:

This is the stage which I(Grand) call the Judgement Day. If you are a Christian pray as never before in your Life, scream, cry, shout, until you can no longer talk again. Pray until your Saliver get dried up while if you are a muslim, increase your praying hour, hit your forehead on the floor until your head starts bleeding, pray until your kneel Start's bleeding because this stage is where your faith will be decided. This is where All your effort right from the day your took the NDA form will be finalized because all your Documents and information will be presented to them and will be thoroughly Accssed even befor you step in to the room to face them on the hot sit.

Your State will be called in one after the other according to your Chest number. It is always one person at a time. Once you get in, wait for them to order you to sit before sitting. Don't go there and sit Like a King or Chairman. Be yourself and Coordinate your feelings, don't be too slow and don't be to fast when talking to them. Don't present yourself to them just to show them that you are very smart. Be yourself and Look straight to their faces. Answer them with boldness, have that self confidence and Determination that You can Beat whatever question you will be asked by them. Never You open your *Buca Cavity*(Mouth) to tell the Boardmen *NO IDEAL* because you will so much hate yourself with the kind of remark you will receive from them.

You will be ordered to sit down then you will be asked to introduce yourself to them.

After that, you will be asked questions relating to your Course of Study. For those That want to study *PSDS* make sure you Study your Current Affairs and Government Text Book Very well. Try and Know the Current Events going on in Nigeria and Other Countries e.g U.S.A, Britain, Russia, France, China etc. Try and master Chapter1 to Chapter5 of Your Government Text Book. While for those offering Engineering Courses Try and Know your formulars and also know how to use them well in Calculations. Learn how to derive Formulars and also How to proof formulars. And for others Offering Science courses Try and Study your biology very well especially the bases. Start from Chapter1 to chapter7. Try and master Them. Then for Social science Like Accounting, Geography, Economics etc. Study the main subject of your course. For geography study Rock, Climate, Proof of the Earth being spherical etc.

Their Questions sometimes is Easy if you are Lucky but sometimes it is very confusing and Technical which can easily knock you off balance for some minutes. My main Advice Goes to those who want to do calculation courses. Please! Try and Solve Calculation Questions both in mathematics, Physics or even Chemistry the reason is because you will be given another Equation to solve on that very day befor Facing the board. This situation occured to 2nd Batch Candidates though I don't know about 1st Batch. You may also be given a dark Marker to Solve some equation on the board for the Boardmen.

Lol! Some Candidate will almost get to a Freezing point at this situation.

Please my dear people do not let fear to defeat you in this stage because you have work so hard for it and you have come this far. so therefore do not let go. This is the stage where your Destiny of becoming a military officer will be Decided. So try and be a man and Face the Gentle And Friendly Officers. They will not swallow your Head up. They just want to see your confidence and Smartness. Keep calm and Concentrate, I bet you!' You will come out smiling and Laughing. It doesn't matter if you are an Ex-Boy or Ex-commando.Though they have more chances Anyway. But If you perform very very well in everything and you pray to God for his Grace to Assist you, I tell you Dear you will be Selected. I have alot of friends who made it Through Godsgrace alone.

NOTE: 70% Of Merit Is Highly Considered in NDA Now and there are some Cadets in the Academy now who made it through that same Merit.

Like what my friend said. Its not just going to AFSB and not being Selected or Selected, its about Learning a different Life and knowing the other part of Life within that few weeks. Life in AFSB Is all about Fun, Stress, competition and survival of the fittest, only the strongest Survive. My most Respect goes to Cpt. S.G ABDUL my Mentor(If you are not well discipline he will teach what is called *THE GERMAN DOSE* and my other respect goes to Lcrpl. LEKAN(MP), Crpl. SANI(MP) and My Kitchen Oga who love shouting *WAARAAY!!!*, *UBANKA!!!*. I know most of you know him. Lol!

May The Almighty God Help us All.

God Bless Nigeria

God Bless Mr President My Commander In Chief

God Bless All Our Officers And Soldiers

God Bless Our Commandants

God Bless NDA 72 RC
