Hi nairalanders, just after financial institutions have been approved by the Covid-19 PTF to resume work fully, GTB which we know as a famous bank in Nigeria sacks their IT staffs.

God help Nigeria.

When they dont even know when schools are resuming, what were they supposed to do? Tell me

IT personnels were not employed by GTb and cannot be sacked. They can be asked to go anytime the bank desire, besides they are there to gain experience for just a limited time,after which they return to school. They are students not staff,were never employed by the bank

They only came for I.T for either a year or 6months which is stated in their offer letter.

Gtbank has stopped them from coming to work early March 2020 which does not affect their #40,000 monthly stipend till date.

The bank has done well if they don't need their services again afterall their safety is paramount.

Lolz, please don't mislead people here. Gtb hires IT (interns) themselves, its not outsourced to any company. Get your facts right

Back to topic.. times have really changed and we hope the effect of this Covid-19 pandemic won't be a devastating one. Really sorry for those affected

Pls are you sure GT bank is still paying their I.T because I have a friend that is working there as an I.T student he told me that they are not paying them anymore.

It depends. If your friend is owing you money, then GT Bank are still paying I.T students, if you are the one owing or you want to tax him, GT bank are no longer paying.
