Good day Tech Gurus in the house.
Hope you are all having a pleasant day?

Please I have an issue with my Volkswagen Passat 2001 model, Auto transmission.

I changed the engine last Week and ever since the gear has not been selecting well.

If I place it in drive, I will have to fire it before it move at all, then it will move a little, then jack and go into limp mode.

I scanned and the issue are:

Engine:
2 cylinder misfire.

Gear:
P01730 (not too sure of the code)
But the interpretation was "INCORRECT GEAR RATIO"

I have
1. Serviced gear fibre body/filter and bottom plate
2. drained and refill gear oil,
3. Cleared fault with scanner.

The mechanic who changed the engine insisted that the flywheel & converter are well positioned
Please any valid way out is appreciated

What type of atf was used.

Ironically, this would have been my first car back in early 2000s.

The same oil the car has been using before I bought it and since I bought it

The issue now is that.

I took it to a few mechanic to test drive.

First 2 said the issue seems to be from the converter (convertor). That it probably did not set well when the mechanic fixes it.

The other person said I should go and programs the gear and engine

The issue may have developed when the ATF was changed, was the car allowed to cool before the service?

There is a good auto electrician I have his contact that could scan or reprogram any VW issue but I can't find his phone number now. If I do, I will edit and post it.

Cos one of the people who gave me idea now, said it might be programming issue.

That since the engine was change there might be a need to wipe & reprogram the car

They finished the engine in the evening and filled the gear oil the next day.

So the car was definitely cool

I was told now it's better to see an Auto rewire.

That they can easily trace any wiring issue and also scan and reprogram is required

Ask that guy I gave you his number of a good auto electrician.

I called him and we talked a bit, he said he would like to check the car first.

Please how much do u trust his work, cos I want to just drop the car off early tomorrow morning before going to work.

He services my friend's VW Passat (newer model though). That is it. Try him.

Perhaps you have the transmission scanned to help in diagnosing the cause.
