I have always had this debate that 4g network consumes same data as 3g just that the battery percentage drops faster. But some says it consumes more data. How true is this  Facts and evidence will be appreciated |

Sunkyphil:Not true on both instances.. 4G runs fast and the urge to view videos and enjoy the speed ends up eating up your data in no time.. 4G won't necessarily drain your battery,except for the urge to be on your device more often with its attendant battery drain. On the other hand,a poor 3G network is about the worst culprit when it comes to a phone's battery drain. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

Sunkyphil: Ur speed determines ur data cosumption, if ur internet speed is slow, less data is uploaded and downloaded within a specific period of time but if internet speed is fast, more data are downloaded and uploaded. We all know that standard 4G is supper faster than 3G and 5G is mega faster than 4G, from this u should know which one consumes more data. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Sunkyphil:It all still boil down to the same thing.. 4G data is more likely to drain your battery more since your data is being sucked more and your phone battery is actually being task more.. This may be coupled with a poor 4G coverage which will also lead to more battery drain.. You don't take all these in isolation,a lot of factors goes to determine your phone's battery drain.. Taking 4G in isolation as the cause of your battery drain compared to 3G is not telling the whole story.. |

Sunkyphil:well somehow it's a sort of a rule (that device manufacturers are trying so hard to bend), the more the power requirements the more power it draws from meeting that power requirement hardware wise, so yes 4G consumes more battery and data just that you won't notice it if you're using an up to date phone cos most 4G phones today come with better battery and more OS optimization to prevent apps from sucking data in the background, even when I was in the United states people manage mobile data cos it's costly, the only thing saving them is there is wifi everywhere.. hope this answer does it for you Modified ; if you got extra money to spare buy a power bank, me I'm using a mifi modem cos I have too many phones and it saves me alot of data and battery as well, depends on where you are sha |

Personally for me I prefer to use 4G... My phone gets extremely warm when my phone tends to stay in 3G... Reason why i dumped 9mobile.. the phone's receptiveness for 4G signals is so strong that it drains battery why trying to maintain the 3G signal.. but it doesn't produces heat at all and i get up to 10hrs SOT on 4G signal alone.. So for me... 3G drains battery more than 4G |

Same data consumption but 4g is faster. Example if you are downloading a movie of 2gb, 4g may take 5mins while 3g may take 15mins but data remains same. 5 Likes |

Caseless:Not all together true given two cars of same spec, at the final analysis. If two cars of same kind should travel the same distance under constant external conditions, the one that traveled at higher speed will spend less fuel, because fuel conversion efficiency increases with speed. 1 Like |

This consumption thing is not reasonable. A 10 mb video is 10mb so downloading it with gprs/edge/3g/4g/5g will consume various data. I beg explain it and make it reasonable |
