Oshiomole: A Hero Of Democracy And A Victim Of Change by Nobody: 9:02pm On Jun 20, 2020

When a former EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu said that corruption fights back, it was a fact born in mystery but stored in an open field.
Over the years, Nigerians have continued to demand for change in the political atmosphere of the country. In fact both the learned or illiterate, poor or rich have felt the burnt of corruption born from bad governance in our country.
As a glaring fact, we all are aware that the current government of president Mohammandu Buhari rode on the mantra of change and a promise to fight corruption as a panacea to get elected in 2015.
However, when president Buhari came into power and started his anti corruption campaign, many wailers began to criticized its fight against corruption. Some bear the sentiment that the anti corruption fight was one sided and targeted at certain individuals and ethnic groups, others queried the usage of the looted funds. While as a matter of fact, some others who had enough cash to influence the courts used their money to hire dare devil Senior Advocates to frustrate their trial. But irrespective, some still went to jail while others coughed out the money they stole.
This goes to show that even though corruption may fight back, persistency and resilience in the anti corruption fight will surely yeild result.
This was however the case of comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomole who though a political party chairman, had a fair share of corruption fighting back in his bid to reform the All Progressive Congress (APC) and bring it to the true democratic reality of the modern world.
As a party chairman, oshiomole faced mirades of animalistic characters who felt governance is their birth right. Some even turned their states into a monarchy where governorship position was to be passed amongst their family members and friends while others installed themselves as godfathers that must be worshiped before anyone can get the running tickets of their states, a behavior they learnt and copied during their days in the PDP or otherwise.
But as a true democrat, oshiomole kicked against this acts of impunity in the party and as a matter of fact promoted the party constitution and party supremacy above personal interest.
This of course did not go down well with certain individuals who believe governance is their birth right and as such these individuals fought the leadership of comrade Adams oshiomole like bulldogs fighting for survival.
However, irrespective of the blows they threw, oshiomole was resilient and refused to allow them have their way until they got him through a kangaroo suspension upheld by the supreme court.
Another wonderful achievement of the oshimole led APC was the disqualification of Gov. Godwin Obaseki. This disqualification has been queried by some who have asked how come the same man who was qualified in 2016 was all of a sudden not qualified in 2020. Well that question should be directed to Mr. Odigie Oyegun, the former national chairman of the APC who screened obaseki in 2016.
For me, Obaseki disqualification represented the progressive moto of the APC, which is aimed at learning from the past to create a better future.
We must note that before 2016, no court of law in Nigeria has ever removed a governor elect because of certificate inconsistencies as they did in Bayesa State to rob the APC of a sweet victory, therefore the national working committee under oshiomole should be applauded for a job well done.
I dedicate this piece to Adams Aliu Oshiomole, a true comrade and democrat and i want to assure him that we the true progressives are ready to join him in the struggle for good governance in this country.
Although weeping may endure for the night, joy will surely come in the morning.

Oshiomole can be anything but hero of democracy.
Democracy and arrogance exist in separate worlds and he is a man with no iota of decorum.

Don't mistake toughness for arrogance. Not everyone are easy meat to chew.

Tough men don't talk and act arrogantly.
They are the most soft hearted persons you can ever come across. You can only experience their toughness by their actions and not their words.

I agree

The truth is that the only people supporting obaseki are those who hate apc. They are afraid of oshiomole/tinubu because of their back to back results of electoral victories
