Dakad:
My able governor had good intension at the early stage of this virus in Rivers. However, his approach was totally wrong and that's what led to rise case. He started fighting with people instead of the virus and politicised the fight against COVID-19. Some of governor Wike's die harder fan will not agree with this but that's the pure truth.

My beloved Rivers was just below 20 reported cases of COVID-19 when ill advised pattern of lockdown was imposed in PH. Governor Wike imposed one of the irresponsible lockdown in PH if I may have that term. I tagged it irresponsible and without proper consultation with experts because, he gave an impression that the first lockdown is indefinite and the rational thinking people were running from pillar to post to prepare for the lockdown but in just 4/5 days into the lockdown without any reasonable reason, he relaxed with impression to allow people to restock and gave 2days and what happened? People throw caution into the air and started crowding everywhere just to buy stuff. I know some family that bought 30 loaves of bread. And all of the sudden just at the die minutes, he extended the relaxation for 3 more days. Then after just 3days into the lockdown, he finally open up everywhere. My wife is into food and the, I can categorically say that people were practically on top of each other during the
lockdown purchase

Now, it's logical to conclude that all those irresponsible pattern of lockdown made the asymptomatic carriers to be spreading the virus. Those states that attempted to do something that resemble lockdown even though I didn't support lockdown without reasonable palliative were able to curb the spread. It's logical that the incubation period of this virus is 14days, what a government that consult experts ought to have done was to impose minimum of 14days lockdown if any at all.

Rivers is now in no 4 on the table overtaken states like Ogun, Edo, Osun, Kano etc who tried to imposed minimum of 14days lockdown. Even Osun with 20 cases in a day at the initial stage of this pandemic is still below 100 cases if I'm not mistaken. It's obvious that the fight against the COVID-19 by Wike wasn't properly channelled. Before you come to persecute me I'm a stakeholder in Rivers whose business is adversely affected by this pandemic. And what all must be doing is to collectively see how this pandemic will be adequately handled by government at all level to ensure the negative impact is minimise and lives are preserved.

I love my governor zeal and passion but he didn't approach the fight against this pandemic with proper consultation with experts rather he was more interested in the political fight but unfortunately the virus doesn't not know political coloration. I'm sure we are coming out of this pandemic stronger by God's grace
My brother you are right but mind you onne and bonny are known as the hub of oil and gas in the state the govt left dem open where vessels and expatriates came in and mingled with the locals who had unfettered access to ph with reckless abandon

RIVERS LOCKS DOWN BONNY LGA AND ONNE COMMUNITY

*Residents of the State to prepare for statewide lockdown if infections continue to increase unabated

Rivers State Government has imposed a total lockdown of Bonny Local Government Area and Onne Community in Eleme Local Government Areas with effect from Sunday, June 21, 2020 to check the spread of coronavirus in the State.

Consequently, all residents of Bonny Local Government and Onne community, except those on essential services and duly exempted must stay at home.

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike announced this today in a state-wide broadcast.

"Pursuant to the fundamental objective of stopping the spread of coronavirus, we have reviewed the situation in Bonny Island and Onne Communities and come to the conclusion that a total lockdown is necessary at this time to shut down the continuing spread of the virus in these communities.

"By this measure, all shops, offices and business places must remain closed.

"All gatherings, including religious, burial and wedding activities are prohibited. All entry and exit into the two communities, except those on essential services and duly permitted, are also banned.

"Security agencies have been directed to enforce the lockdown by arresting and prosecuting anyone who dares to disobey these directives, " he said.

The Governor noted that with a total of 866 positive cases out of 2572 tested samples, the State is gradually becoming the next epicenter of the virus in the South-south region of the country.

He said that within this period, the state also recorded 30 deaths, including prominent persons while 356 persons recovered and were discharged from Treatment Centres.

According to the Governor, only today the state recorded 127 new cases leaving the Isolation and Treatment Centres overwhelmed.

As the number of new cases and deaths continue to increase, the Governor said there is no more denying that coronavirus is both dangerous and deadly.

"We cannot also deny that the transmission of the virus in our state is currently on a steep upward trend. This being so, we must all brace up to the reality of having new infections and a couple of deaths in the coming weeks and months.

"When we recognised that effective early response was key to preventing the virus from progressing deep, we introduced drastic measures to protect our citizens.

"Unfortunately, some people deliberately twisted our intentions, maligned our timely measures and exploited the attendant temporary hardship on our people to further their selfish political drives.

"Today, I am sure with the daily worrisome number of new infections and the fear of possible calamitous community transmission, everyone is now seeing the needless politicization of the fight against coronavirus.

"Nevertheless, we are encouraged by the fact that the virus can effectively be stopped from spreading further, if only we all submit to the prescribed guidelines on social distancing as a matter of strict responsibility, he stated.

Governor Wike regretted the nonchalant attitude of those who blatantly violate the rights of people to good health and public safety by refusing to comply with established guidelines.

He therefore appealed to all residents and visitors to treat the spread of coronavirus with all seriousness by
*staying at home as much as possible
*avoiding contacts with others when outside
*avoiding gathering in groups
*regularly washing hands; and
*regularly wearing face masks in public places, including transport mediums.

The Governor assured that government would continue to collaborate with well-meaning partners to stop the continuing spread of coronavirus.

He stated that this is not a time to play politics and called on residents to accept individual responsibility to reduce the risk of transmission and protect our people.

The Governor warned that residents of the State should be prepared for a statewide lockdown if the number of new infections continue to increase unabated.

A member of his cabinet died, he didn't lockdown government house, a local government chairman died, the LGA wasn't lockdown, just the death of a bank manager and he licked down the business hub of the state. He should come out open as say what the people of Onne has done wrong. The last time he destroyed a hotel and he's here again for a total lockdown

OK. but where did Obaseki pass?So in the spirit of your emperor-ship,you just feel you can make rules and break them. you lock people up for days, you starve them, then you release them to go shopping and banking in rush hour mode. How will the virus not spread? You should come to Calabar and take lessons from Gov. Ayade. seriously you need to be schooled.
Ayede is lying to himself and to the nation. He has not allowed testing to commence.

Are you aware that NCDC visited Calabar and were given unhindered access to carry out their activities without restriction?Did you ever read in the news that Ayade argued with them like the Kogi governors? I live in Calabar. if it was here, the way we are feeling free here every body would have been dead by now. All we do is wear face mask as per social distancing, no body send. All men still relate yet we are all hale and healthy.Everyone i know are all still very alive and well since the whole thing started.
