First thing first I don't trust jiji after this incident and I'll advise you guys to be careful what information you leave on that site.

I registered on that site just so I could find a good deal on something I've been looking (2 days ago) and today I got a call from " 018885056 " (I was able to find out it was a UK number and the call was from Lagos) saying that she is my manager or something similar,in short she's in charge of my account and then I got a message about me buying an ad as soon as the call came in with an account number not familiar to me,I even went back to jiji to check if a boosted ad or something was bought on my behalf but no i got nothing. She paused from her voice I could tell that some guys are telling her things to do from the background. She was like I'm I busy i responded to her sounding nice.
The next thing she said was that she's congratulating me on joining jiji she kept on repeating it thinking I was fool trying to buy time then I said what else(trying to end the conversation because it was becoming pointless) she was like" so welcome to jiji" she kept on repeating the thing and was starting to try to gain information from me then i said that "I don't trust you so I'll cut" then I hung up.

The point I'm trying to make is that I was told a story about a woman I was told was onthe phone with some scammers and somehow after giving them some informations she never knew could be used to withdraw her money she got an alert stating that money has been withdrawn from her account.

If I had used the number connected to my bank to register I'll probably had been regretting by now because I think she was trying to buy time to gain information

The question I want to ask is that do jiji managers call you without request with an unknown number telling you things that doesn't make any sense because i later got a call from her with her personal number raining insults saying that she was my manager and I said she was a scam and was rude even though I was calm and I didn't even mention that all i said was that I didn't trust her and I hung up,is it a must I listen to her.

I had a similar experience with jumia I also got a message from the official jumia mentioning informations about my order only for me to receive a call from an amateur scammer telling me to transfer money to him because his car was siezed by road safety.

It's not a scam.
Jiji workers will occasionally call you and ask you to purchase an advert package.
It's not a scam.

It's a scam, she is just an amateur and hasn't got d vibes to flow yet, they are after your Facebook account,if the conversation has flowed well, they will ask u to send an otp code sent to ur phone in order to help boost ur ad not knowing it's a code to enter ur fb account,in d next hour,ur fb name will either be Owen cruz, David Fisher or Stan Lee. Worst is ur friends will be dm to invest in flip cash and gets defrauded and u will be held responsible. I know guys in my hood dat does it and I keep telling den to start practicing soapy, becos d day Dem go scam person wey ready spend 1million just to recover his/her 5 thousand,e go confirm for their eyes..

you maybe right because that number was linked to my Facebook account.
This your post reminded me of my Facebook friends,I noticed some of them names just changes to mostly a female name with a white woman pic and I'll be like is this not the same person I was chatting with yesterday
I tried reporting some who I believed took over their accounts to Facebook but their complaint team are useless,it always end with it doesn't go against our community standards.
There was a guy a close friend of mine I his account was converted then I sent a message to him and I was like"se u too don dey do Yahoo ni" but then he left me on read and I was like isn't this the same guy.Two days later he texted me saying his account was hacked sending screenshots of the person chat with people and he did exactly what you said trying to scam others, his account later got deleted.

That's their new modus operandi, pls never give out any otp for any reason to anyone, don't give people d opportunity to put u in trouble, especially WhatsApp,they now hack WhatsApp and use ur mobile number to scam people and you get arrested for it.

Funny responses.

The call was most likely from jiji and those voices you heard are voices of co-workers from their call center.
Even the mobile number should tell you it is a local landline.

I wonder how this qualifies as a near scam experience?

I don't really think it's a scam because whenever I post an AD I always receive that call so you can't tell me that someone will have access to their database to always see the new added ad.

to me I believe is Jiji staffs so whenever I post an advert or a product for sale they will call me to tell me about the different packages just to boost my Ad.
