He believed so much in his own pace and decided to do a foolish thing instead of acting smartly. 10 times out of 10, a smart defender would try sell an offside. The Yarmolenko guy didn't even check his own run at all, he was just sprinting down at full pace, Antonio took about three to four touches before releasing the pass, Rudiger had all the time in the world to assess the situation but he was bent on a footrace. He killed himself but c'est la vie.

1st goal - Rudiger giving out corner when he should have given a throw

2nd goal - Rudiger waist breaking on a simple ball into Antonio. After failing to effect the clearance, and the ball switched to Bowen, the blind fool immediately started running like an eediot in the direction of the ball, failing to position himself for any cross and completely losing Antonio in the centre.

3rd goal - He had 30 yards of space to snuff any threat from Yarmolenko. The fool was ambling to the right side with no vision of the runner. There is no way that pass should be released and Rudiger won't be favourite except for the otu ball watching Antonio and shifting across. Even on the second part, he overcommits easily to Yarmolenkos right side.

Damian was also good in serie a, he made team of the season twice consecutively before coming to epl, but not all man utd fans are impresssed with what he has done in manchester. May be my expectation of him was too high, but there are stuff you look for in a world-class defender, that i cant find in rudiger. A 40m central defender should be very firm on the ground, buzzing with confidence. We need players who can compete with the bests in europe. If we are spending 40m on this guy, then we are idiots. Dayo is just waiting for chelsea to make that mistake and come back and mock us when we start regreting the wastage. Telling us how we magaciously paid for someone who is not in germany's first 11. I can list 10 central defenders that i will be more comfortable with, than this guy in epl. Everything is not gbagbagbugbu in defence. There were moments in the game, he would just clear the ball, gboa, like ''throw-in is better'' type of defenders that fill naija boy's clubs. Putting more pressure on his team, when his confidence should have made him to guard the ball and kick it to more comfortable areas. He has a useless vargas to thank for not making him to quake. Most of us dont just want another defender, we want defenders who can compete with the likes of ramos, bonucci, hummels and co. I will even put bailey above this dude. Roma will be so happy to keep manolas and sell rudiger at 40m, knowing that he is also prone to injuries.
