What do you mean by fake domain names? Did you try to buy a domain and you were faked?

The only way you can get your own custom domain is if you buy a domain. You can get a domain from Qservers through this link:https://www.qservers.net/process/?aff=2789

One of the reasons I said WordPress was so that I wouldn't need to build my own website I can just start off from the template provided by WordPress.

Just to confirm my thoughts, would I need to build a website to make the domain name functional using Qservers?

You don't need to, you can just implement it in the website or install Wordpress through Qservers
