SH is only for brandable names in other words, Geo domains has no business there. You can list your Geo domain at Dan, afternic and sedo.

For 2 keywords compound names

I usually find a time I'm not busy, because my head needs to be fresh

I open 3 tabs, one for submitting the names, one for scrolling over new arrivals and one for Searching for keyword popularity in the SH market...

I'll go tru the new arrivals and see the new compound domains, for instance i see Tech/Chimp/com, now my focus will be on chimp (because u hardly see a great tech related domain available).

I'll search the popularity of the keyword "chimp" in the last tab, I'll also observe which keywords are merged with it.

Well, based on say, I've been studying the market place for long, familiar keywords will be running to my head, like Quest, Maven, Lush, Bold, Glamor, Propel, ignite etc etc.

I'll now use those "keywords + chimp" and search for availability until i find one.

All in all, it goes down to how much u are familiar with the keywords in SH.

Another aspect is notice a trend .

Bold+keyword recently ran at SH, in that case, wat i did was run tru new arrivals, I'll get random keywords and combine them with BOLD untill i see available domain. With this, I've got like 10 Bold+keyword domains at SH.

Another trend was the -vy suffix, that too , run tru keywords and combine them with the suffix -vy until u see available name.

Hope this is helpful even in the smallest way.

I do notice that SH doesn't fix a price of above 3k on their Registered domain unlike the ones we register by ourselves, has anyone noticed this too ? Or are there exceptions

If the name you give Squadhelp can worth more than 3k dollars, you won't give it to them to register for you. Lol

There are exceptions though rare. SH is known to be a low priced marketplace. A name listed on SH can be twice the price or more on BB

WAYBACK TUTORIAL

Internet Archive Wayback Machine:This is a digital archive database of the world wide web. From this database you get to see saved crawled pages of any archived website for certain dates.

Why is this useful to you as a domainer?
From this archive, you get to see what a domain was used for in the past, the result could show that that a particular domain have been for sale since inception till it dropped, was used for porn, Chinese site, redirect, used by several organizations etc This will help you make an informed decision whether to buy or not.

Example 1
Domain A was registered in 2000 and dropped in 2020. Wayback machine shows it has always had a sales lander for the price of $3000. This tells you that either the Buy it Now(BIN) price was too high so it scared away endusers or the name is a bad name and as such it wont sell or that the name requires more time to sell.

You can make your research, find out if there are enough endusers, find out if the name can sell with a lower price of say $500-1000 etc

Without the Archived results you would never have known this history about this domain name


Example 2
Company A used a domain between 2000 and 2005 but for whatever reason, it expires, Company B then picked it up and used for 2years, then folded up or whatever. you can make your research and decide to pitch back to Company A. The archived results can also show the type of company that have been using a particular name and this will help to look for more endusers


Example 3
I dont have experience with Chinese websites but a website that has always been used for Chinese purposes even though the english domain name has nothing to do with the content might not be helpful to you.(I stand to be corrected here) or a domain that has always been used as a porn website.

These examples are enough to highlight the importance of the Wayback machine

This shows there is 38crawled results. if it is zero, it means there are no crawled/saved results. when you click on the number it takes you to the wayback machine page.

you will also notice that the bars for 2010 and 2011 are thicker than that of 2019. this implies that there were more saved results for 2010/2011 than 2019.

Before now, If I see a wayback machine for any domain that has thin bars, I ignore I dont bother checking because i feel there nothing for me to see, sometimes you click and it gives an error message. I no longer do that because I have seen thin bars with juicy information, so I check all.

NAVIGATION
When you click on any of the year it displays a calendar with dates circled in red, blue or orange filled colors

Blue indicates that there is a saved/crawled page
Orange indicates that the URL was not found
Green indicates redirects

when you click on any of such dates with blue circle, it takes you to how the page was on that particular date. if the dates are not circled, it means there is no save results for it. when you click on dates with green, it takes you to the webpage, that domain was forwarded to on that particular date.

You can either do Geodomains, If outbound is your thing or Sell accepted BB/SH unregistered names.

I started with Geo and I have discovered its not for me. So i sell accepted unregistered names.

There is someone I am following on Twitter who introduced me to the concept of selling First and Last names for quick flip.

Dont go register someone who is very famous/popular/celebrity, It MIGHT backfire, they might sue for the name.

I reached out to the buyer by simply asking if they were interested in the name without price. the response was yes.

Quoted $800. The buyer told me it was his name and was pretty much useless to anybody else. he said if i was ready to go lower, I should contact him. I asked him to make an offer and he refused, went silent.

I dropped it to $299 when he refused to make an offer. I had to reachout after his continued silence, to enquire if he was still interested. He then told he was considering everything, complained a bit how corona had affected him. I believed because he ran a small shop. days later, I dropped the price to $150, reached out to him and offered him that price, told him i gave him the consideration due to corona.

Reached out days later, if he was still interested. He brought up the corona issue. I reduced the price to $150. He said he couldn't afford that at the moment. I asked him what he could afford, he said $50


I have other First name/Last name that negotiations are ongoing. For these two sales, I had the option of waiting till next year when things settle down, then pitch to them again. that defeats my objective of quick flip. so I decided to sell. My BB names review outcome will be out in few days, this sale will cover for the registration

Hmm, this one that SH said if u use coin, u will get a faster review. They are not doing that. Submitted names, but the ones without coin were reviewed and even accepted, while the one with coin is still waiting for it's faith.

Thou I've registered the name nonetheless.

Understand how contest works

If you submit a premium name and its selected as winner, you get the contest prize

Its left to the contest holder to buy your name at premium price. your name can win but will not be bought

If the contest holder decides to buy the name, then you get the 25% commission (if its SH that owns it else you get the 70%)

The name is always in the marketplace, its not as though it was removed and submitted to the contest. so if it doesn't win, it changes nothing

As a new registree on SH you are required to pay $10 before you can partake in contests. check if you can participate in contest without being asked to pay.

the next is to check available contest for the ones whose brief match your premium names or brief you think you can coin names for

on the issue of AI recommendation, its not perfect so make sure you read the brief before you submit the name to it.

There is a penalty for submitting names that do not match the brief at all
