Do Muslims Support Trump? by whitelotus: 7:29am On Jul 07, 2020 |
I was on a thread where I saw two muslims saying that they would vote for Trump if they had the chance. Their argument was that they support Trump because he is against abortion and homosexuality. This is a very reductionist or myopic way of seeing politics. Supporting Trump because he is anti-abortion is like supporting a crazy person because the crazy person is anti-police brutality. Many of your muslim brothers are dying from Coronavirus in America because of Trump's mishandling of prevention measures. The economy is spiralling downwards. The USA is devolving into anarchy with Trump breaking laws anyhow. Trump himself is a criminal with all the shady business deals he has done- including misappropriating funds from his charity. Welp I've never been to the US, but I've followed some of the politics online. So here is my gut feeling on the subject. Would probably go for a third party if possible. But I see Trump as the "devil I know" rather than the Democrats who were suppose to be the reasonable people decending into lunacy. Of all the reasonable candidates that could easily beat Trump. Andrew Yang, Bernie Sanders they decided to go with Joe Biden whom based on a number of videos is showing signs of cognitive decline (old age) and would probably just become a puppet in office. And there is the identity politics stuff and babying of minorities from the left which is kinda annoying. Another thing is even a liberal Muslim is rather relatively conservative therefore their views align more with the Republican views, except that the Republicans hate Muslim guts. On the Abortion topic, I see abortion as morality wrong, but shouldn't be illegal. Things are never easily black and white as we would like to imagine. Same thing goes to the reason behind someone wanting an abortion. On homosexuality, I like America for some of it's libertarian values, so I don't need to like it, as long as it doesn't interfere with my life, family, or work, I don't see a reason to care. A malicious part of me wants Trump to win, so that I could see people loose their F*ing minds and watch the world burn. (But I won't listen to the dark thoughts) 1 Like 1 Share |

IMAliyu: Well said. I have always maintained that national politics goes beyond more than one issue. One has to look at the bigger picture itself. Many Nigerian muslims now will see their brothers who are students in america being deported as Trumps new policy comes into place. |

whitelotus:As a true muslim I will equally vote for Trump. Their should be no place for homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender in a sane and godly society. |

true2god: Unfortunately, the country is a secular society. Learn to be tolerant. |

akure1stson: 1. Trump's rally single-handedly increased the infection rates in Tulsa. The rally attendees didnt wear masks 2. Most BLM protesters wore masks. Furthermore, blacks are only 13% of the whole population of America 3. Trump could have taken action in January/February to limit the spread of the virus. Rather than listen to doctors and scientists, he listened to greedy party politicians and church leaders. 1 Like
