Please i plan to drive from Lagos to Abuja, i kindly need advice on the route to drive through, i have not driven to abuja before, i plan driving a Toyota corolla 2009.

When are you leaving. I'm traveling on Thursday morning 5am. Maybe we can ride together. Ogunvic shared a route with me: Lagos - Ibadan - Ilesha - Efon Alaye - Aramoko - Ijero - Ifaki - Oye - Omuo - Kabba - Obajana - Lokoja - Abuja

Though have been trying to get him to comment on the Benin - Auchi route

Please I'm hoping to do this Lagos-Abuja journey soon. Do you still think this ibadan-ilesha-Akure route is best at present?

I'm hearing there is a persistent long delay between Sagamu and Ore these days.

There is only always traffic at J4, sometimes it can last for 3hrs and the root cause is

1. Police/Army/NSCDC/FRSC used that area for check point

2. The road construction is ongoing exactly at that spot

3. There is only movement at one side of the lane with a narrow bridge. sometimes trailers have to pass one at a time, believe me there are tons of trailers on that road

4. if accident occurs which is a very common occurrence traffic is bound to occur if the accident is between big rigs, then, the traffic is lockdown style

The road is mosty freeway express especially when you leave ijebu ode with smooth road, you can even finish your speedometer there , the road is equally safe no highway robbers Even when I transverse in wee hours but police are obtainers for the road even to private vehicles

On a normal day, Lagos-Abuja journey is like 10-12 hrs. I'm hoping to avoid that extra 3-hour delay.
To those who have done this journey recently, please which route did you take?

it's like you have travelled out of Lagos for a while anything that makes you leave Lagos by 6am, just know that

Lagos to the oduduwa round about if you are passing through southwest is 6hrs extra 3hrs added

Lagos to Ore is 5hrs if you intend to pass the Edo state boundary road.

you can't predict traffic if your car is in good condition I advice you move around 3am or 4am, to beat the estate to mowe traffic park at Danco filling station and wait till light up to continue your journey

I did Lagos to abuja today and that is the route I took.

This was my route..
Lagos - Ibadan - Ilesha - Aramoko - Ifaki - Omuo - Kabba - Lokoja - Abaji - Abuja

12 hrs (inclusive of all breaks,... Refuelling, Feeding, police stops, and Lagos-Ibadan road construction traffic jam).
