Godfrey Bloom makes a great speech in this short clip. Though he said this around 2011 during a debate on debt crisis in the EU; It's unfortunate Nigeria is still in this category in 2020 and is seems like things are not getting better. cry

The concept of debt in Nigerian context goes beyond gaining a headstart in infrastructural development as politicians like to claim.

Nigeria is a marriage between two different major group. The more educated and resourceful south and a parasitic north.
Now like any marriage if you make the husband and wife take a loan and the loan goes bad, chances are that if the marriage is ever threatened, there will be more parties against the breakup than for it.
The parasitic spouse will be against it. The bank to whom they are indebted will be also. The third party beneficiaries like friends and associates of the above mentioned too will be against it.
Only the resourceful spouse will be willing to breakaway.

That's how our debt is. It is a binding rope used to keep the 'forced' relationship in place and thus the flow of resources which cannot be exhausted in a moment flowing. It is like a robbery in slow motion. A institutionalized form of banquet robbery where everyone is entitled to a piece of the loot.
