WOMEN in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday protested the continued suspension of the only female lawmaker in the House of Assembly, Favour Semilore Tomomewo.

They threatened to boycott the October governorship election if Favour is not recalled.

The lawmaker was among the three legislators suspended by the leadership of the Assembly for alleged unruly behaviour.

The women, under the auspices of the National Council for Women Society (NCWS), Ondo State chapter, protested at the office of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Adekola Olawoye, where they demanded reinstatement of Tomomewo.

NCWS President Pastor Jumoke Aborode said the suspension of the only female lawmaker was an embarrassment to the womenfolk.

She said it was a slap on the womenfolk not to have a voice in the Assembly as party primaries and elections are approaching.

Olawoye said the protest should be directed to the House of Assembly.

Lol...since the suspended lawmaker is a female they shouldnt 'boycott' it, rather they should 'girlcott' it. I think they should take the protest of these women seriously cos it's unfair to suspend the only female lawmaker in the Ondo house of assembly. If nothing is done, when women begin to whip up emotions, they can go extreme and even unclad themselves in all streets on election day. If that happens, many male voters may get distracted and turn to peeping instead of proceeding to vote, and at the end INEC will declare the election Inconclusive.

Women and their insecurities. Was she suspended only because of her gender?

As for me, I am nearing a crucial stage in my journey with my woman. We'll make it to the finish line IJMN Amen.

They do have a point. You can't have only 1 female lawmaker and then still have her suspended. It would have made sense to know why she was suspended but considering the fact that the other male lawmakers are no saints or better than her, then it makes sense for everyone to be let off the leash.
