The Church Is Now Threatening Us With Financial Curse Over Tithe – Basketmouth Reacts To Oyedepo’s Comment

Popular Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth has reacted to Bishop David Oyedepo’s statement on tithing, IgbereTV reports.

Oyedepo had earlier stated that anyone who doesn’t pay tithe is “under a financial curse” and can never prosper.

Oyedepo had tweeted:

“Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing, because when you’re not paying your tithe, you’re under a financial curse. #Tithe #Breakinglimits.”


Reacting to this, Basketmouth stated that the church is now threatening people with financial curse over tithe in a bad economy.

He wrote;

“THIS LIFE NO BALANCE AT ALL!!

The Govt will threaten us with prosecution if we don’t pay our TAX & VAT.

The CHURCH will now threaten us with a FINANCIAL CURSE if you don’t pay your TITHE!

Men of God and unguarded statement,i told some people,how many times you hear your church for morning cry,did your church give you any palliatives during lockdown,if not you your head.

It's a pity that some of these Pastors are making mockery of Christianity.

What baffles me is that some sheepy will defend this with their last sweat.

This lockdown truly opened my eyes to pastors and their crave for more money to maintain their expensive lifestyle.

Ogbeni stop generalizing, not all Rccg gave palliatives,i attend one,if the energy they put on Tithe giving was put on Alm giving and palliatives,and salvation no one would have talked.

Did the apostles give alms,food and clothes to the needy Christians in the church.

I'm not talking for myself but lots of people out there that were broke and stranded. Thank God I don't need to depend on palliative to eat well and survive. Thank God. God himself proved himself to me and not any Pastor claiming God.

My issue is this Why talk of tithes at this time?

Millions Of Nigerians have lost their jobs and income and he's there laying curses on people who are not paying tithes during this period?

Who is he to start laying curses on people because hes not receiving the stipulated amount of monies he has been expecting all through this period?

If u must know, people are hungry and no company is employing at this period.

My extended families have been on my neck for months, cos no jobs for them.

He had better be quiet and keep praying to God to restore Nigeria's economy as a pastor. Not threaten and curse people on air.
