According to legit.ng the military officers led by Major Chukwuemeka Nzeogwu didn't just kill but they took over the house of Ahmadu Bello and robbed him before killing him.The first coup plotters are not just bloodthirsty, but congenital armed robbers in army uniform. On January 15, 1966,a group of British-trained army officers carried out a violent military coup to overthrow Nigeria's democratic government.It was represented to Nigerian people by coup leaders as an attempt to end corruption. In the morning ofthe coup day,Kaduna Nzeogwu with his troops took over the house ofthe leader of the northern region Ahmadu Bello. If you think that was where it started, then you are not wise, if not for that act Nigeria would have been worst than Afghanistan or Sudan by now, the intention was to make Nigeria Islamic State, or do you think Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen started today? |

The Jos massacre of 1945, the Kano killings of 1953, violence in the Western Region 1962, the census crisis of 1964, operation wetie of 1965 to mention but a few. Nigeria was already in serious crisis long before Nzeogwu and others struck in 1966 |
