Ancient igbo pyramids have been rediscovered (Photos) by Abohboy: 11:17am On Jul 27, 2020
Today I read about the history of igbos, and how they built pyramids for ala. but then I found that they appeared to have been lost in the 30s. So I used google earth to search for them. Because the article said they were in nsude so I used google earth and as I was going over a forest. I found a clearing in it where I saw something that looked similar to a stepped pyramid. Could it be true, I’m not sure but if it is. Please forward it and retweet so it can reach the rightful people. If there is more in the surrounding area this could be one of the greatest archaeological finds in not just nigerian but also igbo history. Imagine what other artifacts could be laying around it. So please help me. You’ll have to zoom in to be able to see it

No one has known where they have been since the 30s the same goes for the Benin walls and sungbo eredo I think, a lot of Nigeria’s history is hiding deep in our forests and I think if this is shared it can go very far, in helping Nigerians and igbos to learn about our history more and where we all came from. For real

This nonsense you posted is trash. Remove that IPOB victim complex from your brain. How does Nigeria paint a part of itself black? Had you said the SW media, I would agree, but Nigeria, common.

Children of nowadays should grow up!

Both of you need mental assessment.
You corrected him for something only to do same thing.
Do you people see SW in your dreams?

Heavens forbid chest beaters to promote their own history.

Shut up!

‘Promote their own history’....yet when they want to promote their own self-determination which naturally is a precursor to promoting their own history, you get furious and yell for python-dance!

Nah, it has been the norm of the SW media to paint others black and itself white. Not just the Igbos, but other ethnic group that isn't Yoruba.

That’s what I thought as well, but I chose to check with google earth and I found something, but i won’t be sure whether or not it’s real until someone goes there in real life. So I thought if I shared it than someone can go and explore it but rather these people are turning it into a tribalistic thread.

You took this out of my mouth.

But when I read the Op saying "how they built pyramids for Ala, it evoked such a prideful feeling in me. I felt nostalgic! I felt ancient.

Here was a well organized society where unlettered men had such magnificent architectural and engineering skills to concieve and execute complex projects such as erecting pyramids.

Ala or Ani is the Earth Goddess or Mother Earth in the Igbo pantheon and cosmology. She is very revered and only an edifice like a pyramid could befit her honour!

But somehow, the white man brought his own set of beliefs and managed to convince them that theirs were inferior.

My guy I live in the UK, I don’t have money to spend to come to Nigeria because of covid, and I don’t know how to plan an expedition into a rainforest and I don’t know how to use coordinates so you see where I’m coming from.

I've also wondered if those pyramids we're still around. Sadly, I'm not near enough to embark on the search mission.

He may be on to something. He is focusing on what he thinks is a pyramid..... but the the surrounding vegetation to me is showing patterns of overgrown structures... like a town is buried under there. Just hope somebody can explore and uncover whatever history is out there.
Nice job OP..... the search for history.... African history period.

Yes I’m from aboh through my father, but I school in the UK. I have always been interested and fascinated in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, and I have found that you learn the most about people through their past, so I have been trying to piece together the past of Nigeria, when I heard of the pyramids I said why don’t I try and do something to help with the search, I’m still trying to find new ways to help find new things about Nigeria, and nairaland has helped me to learn a lot about Nigeria and it’s history.

Possibly, if only we could get the government’s attention or at least someone to start digging up the land, who knows what could be discovered there.
