Couple arrested for inflicting severe injuries on their 8 year old son for buying N100 worth of Akara instead of N50

The Imo State police command has arrested a man, Goodluck Ogbuji, 28 and his wife Benita Ogbuji, 26 for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on their eight old son for buying N100 worth of Akara (bean cake), instead of N50 in Umudagu Mbieri, Imo State.


According to the Imo State police command, they made the arrest after they were led by two journalists, Chidiebube Okeoma and Harriet Ijeomo to the couple’s residence at Umudagu Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest of the couple was sequel to a social media post which showed pictures of the severe injuries inflicted on Wisdom.

The Journalists who took photos of the injured boy upon arrival at the residence, said Wisdom has been out of school since 2019 and has be suffering physical abuse from his parents.

Okeoma narrating the story, said; “We got information that a couple dehumanised and almost killed their houseboy because he bought bean cake of N100 instead of N50.We made inquiries through social media and we got their house address. We mobilised policemen to the place in the early hours of Thursday and got the wicked couplea rrested and rescued the child''

“They have been detained at the Orji Police Division, while the boy is being taken care of by the policemen. The level of injuries inflicted on the boy is wicked. We are seeking justice for the child. We want the couple to be prosecuted. The boy has been out of school since 2019.”

There' are so many irresponsible couples today; mentally unstable people living together as a coven of devils to scar little children; what filmsy excuse to cause such bodily harm on a child cos e nor run errand well!

If they no be dead parents, what stopped them from going there with the child?

Smh. Poverty has panelbeated their lives sotay they want to kill dia pikin over N50. Dis kind folks fit kill the poor boy if to say he mistakenly lost like N200 or N100 sef. This is child abuse.

Govt should stop arresting in the east for disciplining children. Disciplining is a very good way of life.

The maltreatment of children in Nigeria will continue has long has religious leaders keep preaching spare the rod and spoil the child, without explaining the meaning of those words. A country were beating is seen has the only way to correct a child, instead of speaking with the child

There is a difference between disciplining and child abuse, I was beaten as a child, but not to the where I was getting swellings on the face and bleeding, maybe a swollen bum or back, but to give the child a swollen eye, bloody head, bloody nose, that’s not discipline that is outright abuse on the child.
