A State known for oil exploration shouldn't be this petty and hungry but the reverse is the case in Akwa ibom, a state that is known to export house helps apart from oil, killing kids in name of witches and not yet done, they brought up burial list

In neighboring communities like their Igbo and efik cousins they have marriage list not burial list but here in Akwa ibom they have a BURIAL LIST! is this an Innovation? Is this exportable ? Is it a way to take the derivative from oil via their people....

In short if you are from a poor family and you are in Akwa Ibom, don't just die! It doesn't make sense to die! They leave the leaving and tax the death

Please! Anglican Church would require payment to bury you too, and I bet so would some other churches. The only difference is they charge according to your assumed wealth so the poor might pay less and be buried in less desirable graves in the cemetery, like near the back!

I am from Akwa ibom and I can tell you that the list above is not compulsory during burial, but however every local government have their policy.

No I'm not. I've had to pay it though. Knocked 400k down to 250 for a service before we shipped him to be buried in the village and paid again.

Why would their be any thing like burial list........Since death takes turns......I'm yet to understand how Africans reason........so if death calamity befalls a family.......like say four people die @ once.......then it will be that list into four places plus their pain......haaaaa.....their elders are not ok.
Re: Before You Bury In Akwa Ibom, Read This ! by jaytee01(m): 6:54am On Jul 30, 2020
There is nothing like burial list in most places in Akwa Ibom. However, you need to make provisions to entertain mourners from the immediate family and community......based on your capability.

This family seems to have greed in their genes.

Church has always made money from burying the dead body (and not the soul!).

In medieval times, people were made to believe their dead were in anguish in purgatory until cleansed of their sins and go to heaven, "So indulge us to pray for their anguish to be shortened", and of course, gullible people indulged them. And that was on top of renting space in a cemetery for your dead body and a tithe of your living.

Burial list is inappropriate.
People should be buried freely.

Asking for a list of things from bereaved family is wickedness.

My brother is funny when some idiot from other state come to mastubate about our state..
Am even shock of the list above and am from and currently living in AKS..
OP get sense and be specific abt the village inwhich the practice is carried out don't generalise next time OK..

Each village in this country has their tradition and some are weird, so don't come here and talk as if your from the moon.

I only pity igbos that marry from that side, in event their daughter dies, Ah! Chimo! See, you will build house o where you will bury her, this is apart from other expenses. There is no way she will be buried in the husband's home town. Save your children the stress, marry among yourselves.

Akwa ibom state very wicked, backward, fetish and dangerous pple...go and marry their woman without doing proper marriage. They will kill her and make your life a living hell. If paradventure she had started bearing kids...they will start killing your children one after d other.
I know one man from akwaibom who married a lady too from their has about 4 children without paying anything on d woman's head...now it almost two years her body is still in d mortuary..he can't go and bury her because of d huge traditional demand and as it is he stands a good chance of being killed under mysterious circumstances...he can hardly travel to his state. In fact most of them hardly travel to their villages because na death o.
Even their women no one marry from their place...they want to opt out...u see their very beautiful ladies aging and no marriage yet.

This account is an eye opener to any guy/lady here who is planning to marry from akwaibom. Marrying from their sister state Crossriver, is by far the best option...those ones got no problem at all. But u see Akwaibom..hmm,,,stories abound over their. Na them do wicked tradition pass o.

The is a known fact in Akwa Ibom.

I witness one at Esit-Eket LG. On of our dude there old man died and before you know it, loads of drunkers in the name of mourners have down alcohol worth 20k. The dude came to complain to us that he is struggling that he has spent over 50k for mortuary alone.

The burial proper will cost him over a million naira. The guy was just lamenting on the stupid tradition in their village.

He cant complain much because he is part of the system.
