Atigba:9century AD is the year the Igboukwu artifacts were created and buried in a land that used to belong to Oraeri, an offshoot of NRI. What it means is that NRI itself is far older than Oraeri which is Nri's offshoot. An offshoot is always later, than the real deal. Academic Books have already recorded the cultural preeminence of NRI during the Igodomigodo days, so your falsifications on nairaland won't cut it. Portuguese explorers recorded Nri's preeminence over Benin culturally. Cannot be changed by latter day revisionists |

OfoIgbo:Nri kingdom was founded by Eri in 9 century AD and you people agreed that you have no clue where he migrated from. You even suggest he fell from sky. Eri is from Igodomigodo, one of the son of our Ogiso. He founded Nri kingdom, other of our children founded several Igbo communities. No one fell from sky.. You hear https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Nri |

Atigba:People say Eri is a descendant of Had the son of Jacob. These are speculations. But one thing every NRI man knows is that NRI held sway over Igodomigodo and Benin. If Ewuare I, or Ozolua were around and read that you are attempting to bring NRI down to the level of Ife or Igodomigodo or Benin, they will use your corpse to bury the next oba to die. NRI which remains the oldest surviving kingdom has a huge cultural significance |

Atigba:NRI also started in the BC era. I am aware of an academic process by someone to prove it at the moment. That effort will correctly ascribe a more accurate date to NRI civilisation. The date will also dwarf the Igodomigodo date. NRI held sway as the cultural overlords of Igodomigodo, the same way NRI was the cultural overlords over Benin. |

UdechiHD:This your submission is a line that historians hardly tow Maybe because of how ancient it is, I always tell people that NRI is a reltaively young civilization compared to the ancient stock of Igbos it met on ground. |

Hellraiser77:Exactly, maybe due to the lazy historians that abound in Igboland. A lot of them just do follow follow. Only few historians are hitting new frontiers, carrying out archaeological findings etc to back their claims. |

UdechiHD:Serious archeological expeditions are needed across igboland coupled with modern technology there is no telling what truths might be revealed, Unfortunately everybody has become so comfortable with the Nri account.......NRI is way too young to be the origin of the Igbo peoples |

Bkayyy:Igodomingodo was birted with Igbo culture. Maybe by Nri, maybe by the Igodo themselves who may have had Igbo roots? The culture of Igodomingodo was rooted in ancient Igbo norms before the decline of the Ogiso dynasty. |

Hellraiser77:Why the Umueri/Nri account gained root was that only them could remember their migrations. Since other older clans forgot their origins, the Nri account became the story historians held on to. However, the founding of the Igbo-Ukwu artifacts actually made a mess of Nri cradle of Igboland story, as well as Eri’s legend who accounted meeting the Awka’s during his sojorn from the middle-belt. Again archeological excavations from Nsukka and Okigwe and legends from Amaigbo brought new dimensions to the Igbo origin story. Even where Eri/Nri held forte, historians such as Dr Nwaezeigwe (the Ibusa born historian) discovered authochtonous Igbo communities that the Umueri groups met on ground. In Aguleri there is an authochtonous group older than Eri. Even in Agukwu Nri, another group such as the Umudiana actually bequeated the religious rites of their kindred to the Nri. |

UdechiHD:Sometime ago, the current Ooni of IFe tried opening up the discourse on this ancient Igbo origins but met a lot of backlash from his fellow Yoruba obas cos what he was positing was that an ancient Igbo group were in Ife either before or alongside the ancestors of modern yoruba, Migrations and return-migrations coupled with lack of any record system has complicated things a lot, it will only take an open minded extensive and equally expensive archeological inquiry spanning many years to even begin to unravel the connections of the Ethnicities of modern day Southern and middlebelt Nigeria, they are all related one way or the other |
