The senator representing Borno South and chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume says the next presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) must come from the South.

Speaking in during an interview with Tribune, he added that such was the zoning arrangement put in place by the ruling party.

He further stated that a different scenario can play out in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

He concluded by saying fielding a Northern candidate in the next presidential election would be synonymous to fielding president Muhammadu Buhari for APC.

He said, “For APC, it is natural that the president should come from the South and I am a frontline advocate of that because I believe in equity and justice and where there is no equity and justice, there won’t be peace. When APC was formed, we zoned the president to the North.

“That is why four candidates from the North contested and one candidate only from the South-East. No candidate contested from the South-South and the South-West. Only one candidate which was [Rochas] Okorocha and everybody knew then he just wanted to exercise his rights.

“He didn’t even relinquish his gubernatorial ticket; he put his in-law there and when the result came out as expected, he went back and picked his gubernatorial ticket. This time round in APC, it is only natural for every person of conscience to support a candidate from the South, whether it is South-South, South-East or South-West.

“To me, in APC, supporting a candidate from the North is tantamount to a third term for Buhari, because the constitution is very clear. It says there must be equity in position, even in appointment. My position is known on that.

“I will not support a northern candidate and I don’t think APC will support a northern candidate. Southern candidate is the way to go. But for the PDP, it is a different ball game. I am not in PDP.

“The PDP scenario is different from that of APC. For the APC, as I said, to support the northern candidate is tantamount to a third term for Buhari"

The two zones for southern presidency are South South and South East anything out side this, The presidency will simply perpetuate in the north until the greedy south west get sense.

Southeast should be supported to produce the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari. This is what equity demands!

Southwest was in charge for 8 years between 1999 and 2007.

Southsouth was in charge for 5½ years between February 2010 and May 2015.

The Southeast must be allowed for 2023...

The southeast doesn't need presdency come 2023, all we need is freedom, we don't want to be part of this nonsense called Nigeria anymore, if they like let them continue rotating the presidency between fulani herdsmen and skull miners, it's none of our business here in the southeast, all we want is freedom, nothing more nothing less. BIAFRA MUST BECOME A NATION!

SE has it.
Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is not borne out of sympathy, rather it is a right. It’s a right step in the right direction inorder to move this country forward. The country is already falling apart and the future looks gloom. A Nigerian President of Igbo extraction would heal the wounds of the civil war and bury the ghost that has afflicted this country since 1970.

Choose your candidates Nigerians!

For the APC:
Hon. Ken Nnamani — (Former Senate President of Nigeria)
Prof. Pat Utomi — (Foremost Nigerian Economist)
Mr Ogbonnaya Onu — (Current Minister of Science & Tech and former Presidential aspirant of the ANPP)
Owelle Rochas Okorocha — (Former Governor of Imo state and Presidential aspirant of the PDP in 2007 and APC in 2015)
Chief Orji Uzor Kalu — (Business Mogul and former Governor of Abia state)
Mr. Sullivan Chime (Former Governor of Enugu state)

For the PDP
Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala — (Former minister of Finance, former VP World Bank and 3rd place runner up to late President Yar’adua in the PDP primary in 2007)
Mr Peter Obi — (Former Governor of Anambra state, industrialist and the VP running mate of the PDP in 2019)
Mr. David Umahi (Governor of Ebonyi state and chairman SE Governors forum)

Zoning arrangement, though not in the 1999 constitution, only recognizes Northern and Southern rotation of Presidency.

In 2015, NW, NC and NE vied for the Primary election of APC.
In 2023, SW, SS and SE will be vieing for the Presidential slot of the APC with votes across the entire country.

1999 - 2007 - Olusegun Obasanjo - Yoruba (8 years) : Yoruba

2010 - 2015 - Goodluck Azikiwe Jonathan (6 years) : Ijaw-Igbo
NB: Nnamdi Azikiwe is an Igbo man.

2015 - 2023 - Muhammad Buhari (8 years) : Hausa-Fulani

The cycle is now completed - YORUBA, IGBO, HAUSA.

Any serious zone should start the underground work now. Blackmailing aspirants does not help...

Hahahahaha, I laugh in patience Ozokwors voice.

All along his foot soldiers has been mentioning his name in relation and connection to 2023 presidency,he has not for a day issued a rebuttal or at least called them to order telling them that it is even too early to start talking about 2023, he is selfish and not smart.

I was expecting him all along to make a statement that it's too early to start discussing 2023 so as to avoid unnecessary distractions from delivering the party manifesto.

Secondly that seems also to be you people's line of defense when confronted with facts about odds being against him in 2023.

Tinubu is not smart after all, he's just lucky.

SE has it then. Babu SW, they've taken their turn. They'll should wait in line if the North must also wait.

PDP will wait for APC to produce their candidate, it the zoning agreement is not fulfilled to the later 't' and a SWner emerges, then PDP should field a notherner, because zoning has collapsed.

Those who think they can keep trying to taunting and mocking the East by hijacking the presidency won't have it easy this time.

The presidency was 'gifted' to the SW in 1999, that's why we all allowed them to produce the candidates of the two major parties, after the several failures of Awo, MKO et al. to become president.

Same should be done to the SE in 2023, or power can remain in the north. It's simple.

Correct!

I will like Yorubas and other southerners to go head to head both in the APC primaries and in the general election.

Pigggidiootts should drop the idea of hiding behind an abooooki as VP. It seems they (abookis) are no longer interested in the presidency.

They have ruined the country!!

Barca, let me ask you this question: What is PDP's position about giving their ticket to the East?

This thing is a no brainer in politics: you sow your oats where your chances of success is highest, that is why despite Obaseki decamoing two seconds to PDP primary, he was still given the ticket.

Now, down South, where is PDP strongest and where would you rather they zoned their ticket? Are you people ready to reward the East for all their hardwork and loyalty to PDP? If not, does that signpost Pdp's disdain and utter disregard for the efforts of the people of the zone by pdp?

Please you people should carry out your threat to vote the North. It is your right. You can't threaten people into supporting you, that is a very foolish strategy- no one is scared of you or any other ethnic group for that matter.

I don't know about others, but, as for me and my house, if God preserves our lives and we see that day, we are voting Osinbajo.

Your saddistic views are irrelevant to me, you are not very bright as you pose if you can't see that it is virtually impossible for osinbade or any yoruba to be president in 2023. When did yoruba start winning elections in the politicosphere. Go and hit your books on political history.

The yoruba have taken their turn as president and VP according to the zoning principle. 2023 is not for yoruba. The other southern regions will not allow it happen.

Oga let me make it very clear to you.

Whatever made sure that SW didn't contest with SS in 2011 and also made sure that SS and SE didn't contest with SW in 1999 will ensure that there will be NEVER be SE vs SW situation. You will not be allowed to smuggle yourself into aso rock with power of incumbency.

PDP will wait and study the situation, if SW emerges in APC by hook or crook, it means zoning is now suspended or dead, you will be facing the North in PDP with the strong backing of SE/SS zones to wrest power from you. That's the consensus around here. There is no sugarcoating it. We are realists not 'utopian idealists' like you yorubas.
