Ex-Real Madrid player, Oscar Ruggeri has thrown shades at Gerald Pique, labeling the Barcelona superstar an average defender.

Ruggeri who played for Real Madrid in the 1989/90 season, believes Pique is as average as many other defenders but lucky to play for a big team.#

“Pique is a second-rate [player], like me, like many others,” Ruggeri told FOX

“He’s good looking, he’s with the singer [Shakira]… he has a cool beard, but if he played for Valencia, he wouldn’t be well known. Pique ended up playing for Barcelona.

He is no doubt a top defender. Football is much more than tackle all the time. Passing accuracy, stability, heading and the rest are there. For someone to be at a top team like barca for ten years and more, he is up there among the best.
