Talking from experience as a fleet manager:

This is absolute madness, you could have just told new entrants not to even think venturing into the business..this may obviously not be a problem for uber and bolt, but if this eventually has a ripple effect on the drivers via increase of service commission, they can kiss their ass goodbye from Nigerian fleet managers whom are the power house of the ride-hailing companies, of which many are pulling out in droves today..

- Total purchase of a (non-rusted) regular corolla including registrations and starter pack/kit - 2m
- Average income /week (full time) - N100,000
- minimum Fueling/week - N30,000
- Commission remittance (currently) - N25,000
- average e-hail coy commission - 25% - N25,000
- Drivers earning 20k or less per week for being 112hrs on the road out of 168hrs, that is terrible but everyone is trying to survive..

- Fleet managers take home/week - (N25,000)..
Monthly sum - (N100,000)

inevitable expense projections:
Service - (N8,000 monthly)
- Monthly tire change projection (used) (N7,000)
- Monthly repairs projection (dollar rise in parts) - (15,000)
- Fines/levies/impound/tolls provision - (5,000)
- Driver short pays and run-aways - (5,000) or could cost you a whole week if not two.
- Logistics, tracking & follow ups - (5,000)
- Monthly Comprehensive insurance - (7,000)

Average monthly income after deductions - N50,000(madness)

Vehicle replacement - 2m/N50,000 = 40mths (if it's a full-time business, it's impossible to save 100% of that income..(4 years approx with all things being equal is almost impossible) for a car virtually 18hrs on the road.. it may encounter major accidents, engine change, gear box change, AC issues during the period which does not just cut down massively on the income or wipe it all out, but increases the capital recovery period of the vehicle aswell well beyond the projected 40mths..

With this projections alongside increase in dollar /fuel which directly affects repair cost, reduces return, coupled with the shrinking economy that reduces riders, who in his right senses would remain in such business if a service charge is increased that affects both fleet managers and drivers?..
Thank you for breaking and analysing the cost in details.

And to think that this cost doesn't include service charge levy that will be imposed soon says alot about drivers leaving the business and make riders more frustrated.

My problem is not about the tax but it's utilisation. There are many inaccessible roads in the state with the multiple tax been collected yet nothing commensurate to maintenance and development of existing/new roads

Uber/bolt business is no longer lucrative as at when it first kicked off operation due to competition, crowded players, dwindling revenue/profit, high maintenance/tax cost.

This Sanwoolu no get sense at all.

Why do you want to kill the business in your domain?

Is this how to encourage private business owners?

Where do we get all these crop of senseless and debased humans to lead us anyway?

Is he trying to raise money for his godfather's presidential campaign or what?

Let those business owners take him to court.

It is illegal to demand such money from them.

Is it tax or what is it exactly?

Wicked regulations, clearly government is trying to kill private participation in the Lagos transport business, this is another example of crony capitalism.

Business opportunity for a privileged few individuals connected to govt, who will enjoy waivers, Lagos is definitely not going to be the bustling commercial hub it once was.

No keke, okada, now taxi , how can a city be interesting if movement is restricted.

To Nigerian govt regulation means higher income.

These people are just bereft of ideas.

To think Lagos never releases the comprehensive analysis of its income and expenditure.
I don't think the State Assembly has even passed the FOI bill.

The summary of your analysis is what the government intends to achieve. Power players in Lagos both in and out of government are mostly NURTW Agberos, so it will not be wrong for anyone to assume they want to frustrate e-hailing operators.

Oh my! What a way of solving the transportation issues in Nigeria! Individuals won't be able to afford this payment, the ubers will transfer it to consumers, consumers who cannot afford to be paying the continual more expensive fares will resort to buying their cars, using their parked cars or taking danfos, cars/buses will be more on the roads, traffic will become even more dreadful! Please God...biko help me get out if this dreadful country!
Re: Uber, Bolt Drivers Face Uncertain Future As Lagos Begins New Regulations by Cousin9999: 8:01am On Aug 11, 2020
It's the same in every country. Governments need to admit that Uber can only work in places where government has failed its people regarding infrastructure. Taxis and Uber should be one of many options.

Ride hailing taxis stayed this long because the assets are managed individually.. have companies not invested in acquiring asset taxis such as red cab, metro cab, Afri cab etc.. where are they today..

Protesting or even complaining loudly here is a capital offence. One might be incarcerated or at the worst killed for daring to have a voice. I would rather just leave the country for them...let them ruin it as they will. Soon, they will get old and die like we've been seeing lately. It is well.
