All in all, headhunting and cannibalism were common place on the New Guinea island. It wasn't just about this tribe. Many others were involved in it until the British and the Dutch came to subdue it to a large extent in the parts of the island of New Guinea which they controlled.

Some people(and even tribes) still practise it over there. There was a guy called "Black Jesus" who was lynched to death cos they said he was in the habit of turning other people around him into quick snacks.

In Nigeria, human flesh is known as "Eran Oniyo", or "Menumo", depending on the market where such special purchases are possible.

Not to be left out, the Ob'Anang Market in Cross River State, is a well known source of both fresh and smoke-dried human flesh, that is patronized civilians, along with occasional policemen and army officers, who gain admission PROVIDED that they do NOT wear any uniforms when shopping for "special meat", at the Ob'Anang Market.

E get as e be. When dining in Cross River State, NEVER request meat in any restaurant. Always opt for fish, to err on the side of caution.

Ha ha yes dog meat, fondly known as Ebuwa, is considered a delicacy by our brethren in Cross River State, whereas in Ondo State, dog meat connoisseurs use the term "Lokili" to designate filet-of-dog, that is lovingly prepared by master dog-meat chefs who train for the career over many years.
