This is just very bad. To be running a Federal Government institution as a private property should not be happening. Removing him should not be based on personality clash but on his performance as a VC, fraud if any and abuse of office. An independent committee should have been set up to probe him and the report made public before sacking him. Everything should be transparent. Doing things this way will destroy the institutions and all the legacy they have build over the years. If Harvard, Oxford or Cambridge were run like this, they won't be where they are today. Unilag is one of the best institutions in our country today.

University (governing) council is responsible for all financial matters, the buildings and the appointment of the vice-chancellor. Academic affairs are the business of the university senate. Infact ASUU has no business in this matter.

I guess you don't understand how it's done. Before a VC can be removed a committee made up equal members of Senate and council members will be set up to investigate the VC and make recommendations to the council, but in this case nothing like it.

It's seems to be a personal issue of power between both of them, the council chairman should allow the University run and just monitor, not dictating how things should be done.

Jerry Gana was ones council chairman of Unilag, did you hear any noise or power tussle?

Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria details the constitutional right to fair hearing.

In Latin, audi alteram partem and nemo judex causa sua meaning

2. Any encumbrances on his right to be heard
3. Was the panel impartial or partial
4. Was there any taint of bias howsoever small
