Hi all,

I come bearing great news!

After reading @ayandee French story I decided to double my efforts and achieve what she achieved.

I passed TEF in under a year after starting from scratch. (Test Centre: AF Manchester, UK). With the scores & my IELTS results, I have 500 CRS points and I'm so happy because I had 449 points before.

I was attending Alliance Française and institut Français UK but I stopped because they were too slow and charging a huge amount. Then I found my French tutor from here, he is https://www.tobidam.com and I highly recommend him. He helped me get here much quicker than I ever expected.
I used an app to track my progress and this is almost 500 hours of combined study. It's possible!

Thank God and thanks to everyone here for their tips and guidance.

Bonne chance !
congratulations

For EE, my test was computer based. I got a keyboard without accents so that set me back a little bit. (Someone recommended to learn how to quickly add accents on a Windows keyboard).
But unfortunately, I found this tip only after my exam.. This will help during the test.

My section B was around 400 words.. I wrote a lot, so I can say I spent more time writing than correcting my essay.

these are the two main points I noticed.

Please how is TEF exam on computer ?
1-For CE can you see all questions on the screen at the same time in case you want to start from like ther easier questions.

2-For writing what is the keyboard like? Is it french or english?
3-Does it have accent signs?
4-Will you be given a piece of paper at least to jot down our 3 points before typing

5-For CO ,can you view all questions so you can start from Q40 to Q50 or do are the questions displayed to correspond to the exact audio playing?

Is it like Prepmyfuture where you must click to view the next question?

Can you go back to an earlier question
Thanks

Wow. Congrats. Just seeing this after a long time here. You're now a fellow alumnus. I think I am now justified. Results speak for themselves. No time to argue with naysayers. On bouge !

= Yes, you can see a set of questions per screen & you're free to go back & forth between the questions or begin at a random number.

2-For writing what is the keyboard like? Is it french or english?
= QWERTY, no accents, no autocorrect.
3-Does it have accent signs?
4-Will you be given a piece of paper at least to jot down our 3 points before typing
= no paper or pens given out at my centre.

5-For CO ,can you view all questions so you can start from Q40 to Q50 or do are the questions displayed to correspond to the exact audio playing?
= you can't toggle between questions, you answer as the audio plays. Once the screen disappears, you can't go back.

Is it like Prepmyfuture where you must click to view the next question?

Can you go back to an earlier question

Thank you very much. I got the goggle drive link after reading almost all of njbybrthnly posts.

Congrats. I'm happy to read about your success. May the rest of the process be smooth for you.

Ps: please do not discredit any of the schools. The schools/private tutors are there to guide with the basics. The bulk of the work lies with the individual. I encourage intending learners to attend schools or engage private tutors, whichever they find convenient.

Congrats once again

Can you recommend any tutor in Lagos please?

I saw them online and made enquiries, their price is good, but am wary of their effectiveness. Even though, they said you can get you to B2 in eight months.

Yes they are very efficient with a product on this thread. Search ayan.dee(remove the full stop), she is a product of theirs that did it in 6 months.

I'm also a total beginner too. But am practicing seriously at home with duolingo, memrise and rocket french. But I loveeeee rocket french most, and with the rate I'm learning, by the end of this lockdown I should be prepared to take the A1 exams.
I'm looking at 6 months preparation, will attend the physical class when the lockdown is over. Wish you all the best.

P.S: for other good french apps, check out speaky app (to boast your speaking ability) and French coffee break (to boast your listening ability)
Hi, the rocket french app I got on playstore requires payment after a few lessons. Did you notice that too? If not, how did you go around this?

someone mentioned that an insurance exam is assessed as a 1 year course and it takes a shorter period to prepare for it than CIMA. Personally, I don't know much about this as I did CIMA but check it out on the Express Entry thread. Apparently it's cheaper and you can prepare for it in a few weeks.
Sorry about your job
Please, which exam is that precisely? Name please

hello fam and my seniors,

I just started studying french about 2 months ago using frenchpod101.com (as suggested in the group), it has truly been helpful.

my question is, Can I learn up to a b1/b2 level using frenchpod101.com only before intensifying study for TEF........ I seem to enjoy their teaching technique

or should I add other resources at this early stage?

also when watching films......would I learn better if the subtitle is in french or English........

merci
Hi, I am having issues downloading frenchpod101 audios on my drive. Don't know if I can get them from you?

Bonjour tout le monde!!! I've been passively learning french for almost 2 years now (off & on) mainly because I love the language. I've decided that I want to use this knowledge for something positive.
My french level of knowledge is pretty good. I read extensive novels in french and I listen to french podcasts and watch a lot of french youtubers without using subtitle and i'm able to understand at least 80% of what they say.
The only thing is that speaking & writing isn't easy for me as I noticed its harder to produce information than to consume.

With intensive tutoring & practice, could it be possible for me to write the TEF exam by December?

Also, I think getting a private tutor to focus on my personal needs would be better than attending a school if I want to accelerate my learning.
PLEASE where can I get a private french tutor in Abuja?
Also, i'm open to advice and suggestions.

Please I just went on tuteria.com looking for a French tutor in Abuja and the budget i'm expected to spend is between 88k-177k per month depending on the experience of the tutor. This will be for 2 hours lesson every weekday. My sister said it's too pricey but i'm really having a hard time finding a good tutor in Abuja. Please help

Bien sûr, vous pourrez réussir à l'examen TEF, mais vous ne pourriez pas probablement obtenir de bonnes notes comme vous voudriez.
