I did notice one thing though; when I like a particular food, I experiment and come up with very interesting and delicious results.

Truth? Na okro ooooo

I learned on my own you can boil okro instead of frying. Prior to this my mom bluntly refused to boil hers because it is 'Yoruba style'. When I came home and cooked it, she wasn't impressed. She said it is 'okay'.

The food. Sometimes you ask for recipe and when you are given, you have one funny response. It screams “Abeg, I no do again”.

Pic 3: Croaker fish. Didn’t bother asking how much. Just liked the view.

Pic 4: Tilapia fish. Bought 1 @ N1800. I priced her N1000 and she asked me in Yoruba “my daughter, have I annoyed you before?” I replied “rara Ma”, then she said, “price me well na” Anyway, I heard I can get it cheaper elsewhere, but I didn’t want to go far or to a crowded market. She cleaned it too, very nice women.

The slimier the okro, the better, IMO. This okro looks nice but I'd stick to my mum's really slimy okro. I remember the day I prepared it for my corps mates back during youth service. The guys finished the whole pot of soup, belched and declared it was the most delicious okro soup they have ever eaten in their entire lives. They left me with compliments and an empty pot
