Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), yesterday, alleged that its Ebonyi State Coordinator, Igwe Ogbonnaya, has been arrested by the police on Tuesday.
The group Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement, said Ogbonnaya was arrested at his Ugwulangwu residence in Ohaozara council of the state by security agents, few days after burying his wife.
While urging the security operatives to stop the indiscriminate arrest of its members, he also informed that a wife of another member, who just put to bed, was allegedly tortured with her newborn by the security operatives at Oji River, Enugu State two days earlier before the arrest of its Ebonyi coordinator.
“Similarly, the security operatives subjected an innocent woman that recently gave birth to torture on August 16 at her husband house in Oji River council, Enugu State.
“This happened at about 4.30am and anybody suspected to be member or supporter of IPOB was equally beaten up by the Department of State Services and police personnel,” [/b]Powerful said.
The group, while calling on international communities to prevail on the arrests, also urged the South East governors to ensure the release of its members.
[b]“IPOB, led by Nnamdi Kanu, hereby demand immediate stoppage of the incessant harassment and arrest of our members.
“We are particularly upset by the recent arrest of IPOB coordinator in Ebonyi State; and the intimidation of an innocent woman in Oji River council of Enugu State by security operatives under the guise of searching for Radio Biafra station.
“This continued illegal abduction and kidnapping of innocent people in our land must stop.
“We call on Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, and his counterparts in the South East and South South to release Biafra agitators arrested in their respective states before its too late.
“We also call on the UK High Commission, Amnesty International, US embassy, UNDP and other countries high commissions and embassies in Nigeria to prevail on the Federal Government and these governors to release our people abducted illegally before it becomes too late"
Powerful said.

this is the point..they have failed to harass the real terrorists and bandits and that is why things will continue to go bad bcoz instead of them to quench the fire burning their house they rather left it and be pursuing rat. Now if you talk anyhow, you pay 5million...what a joke of a country

there is no bandit crisis in Ebonyi state. So that call should be to chief security officers of states where there are bandit crises like zamafara, kaduna, katsina, to press their police force to act on them. Let's channel the pressure to the right quarters and not group everyone collectively.

don't mind them, reading the story u will understand that it doesn't add up at all.so they just went to their houses n started arresting them without doing anything.

These people like playing victim card a lot,that was how one of them was claiming Igbos were killed unjustly without provocation in 1967,we just asked him what led to it n he told us to forget it

I'm probably quoting a child... so zamfara, kaduna and katsina now have their own police?? My dear, what we have is federal police and states can only make do with the men sent to them so the federal government that is interested in ipob sending police to molest them just like you have opined should channel those personnel to those bandit ravaged states instead of looking for those to molest

There is nothing like "Ebonyi Police", it is called "Nigerian Police". You are trying to make it look like Ebonyi is fighting IPob. Yorubas self
