This is not compulsory, it doesn't apply to my area. I'm Igbo too and I didn't cook for my in-laws. None of my siblings did. My uncle's wife was even a bad cook but she was very willing to learn and she learnt how to cook from my granny.

I am igbo. While what u say is true the chance of that even happening is low cos she would be expected to cook for her in-laws in the weeks leading to the marriage. That's where her cooking prowess will be accessed b4 the in-laws (especially the mother) finally accept her.
A lady like Erica will have problem at that point.
If she wants to learn she better start now and get serious. She's already 26 and ripe for marriage

None of these is set in stone.

I don't think her Yoruba is as fluent as Igbo. She and Wathoni's dad are polar opposites but very similar. Yemi was born in Igbo land to an Igbo mum and Yoruba dad, bears a Yoruba name but speaks more Igbo than Yoruba. Wathoni's dad was born in Yoruba land to a Yoruba mum and Igbo dad, bears an Igbo name but speaks more Yoruba than Igbo. That's warramean in my post that her dad is kinda Yemi Aladeish
