The difference is Pep did that when other teams were weak but Chelsea got competitions in Man City and Liverpool because regardless they still got a complete team even better than Chelsea

Barca will reduce that asking price, Messi is 33 with 1 year left, even if they force him to stay he won't extend his contract and Messi knows no team in this current climate will spend £100m buying him and pay him anyway near 1m per week except GE takes a massive wage cut or if he manages to win the case he might get £700k or even far more.

The only clubs crazy enough are PSG, City and Chelsea to an extent

No. Zouma is our best defender. Sarr on bench to cover CB and LB, also as insurance against Silva's ageing legs. I still have doubt if a 36 year old can keep up on a weekly basis.

Lampard should use Silva mainly for champions league and top matches or tough games. So Thiago Silva can play throughout the season but not twice every week.
