Atreus Mental State

Atreus takes center stage amidst several God of War's mysteries. His true identity was one of the biggest myths of the game, raising many nonreciprocal questions. A future title might resolve these loose threads, however there is a variety of details that have fans scratching their heads.

During a poignant scene on the stream along with his father, angry voices beset Atreus, leaving him in agony. once the words and screams subside, the young protagonist describes an angry uproar, saying the presence "felt evil." Later, he confesses to his father he had often heard voices before.

While in Helheim, once faced with a vision of himself killing Modi, Atreus responds, "That wasn't me." though a potential show of immature denial, the tone of the refusal implies he has no memory of committing the act.

So, what do these freaky occurrences mean? though Mimir says the voices could also be a manifestation of Atreus's growing god-powers, the evil vibes raise a red flag or two. The implied gap in his memory hints at a much bigger problem though, leaving players to marvel at his psychological state.

Some believe these moments hint at a multiple personality, with the Norse deity representing his "evil" identity. or even the outbursts and denial are the simply the facet effects of a young god's transition from childhood into the highs and lows of adolescence. God of War does an honest job of leaving the truth receptive to interpretation.

The Fate Of Freyr

One of the enigmatic figures of the game, Freyr is Freya's brother and a frontrunner of the Vanir. although he does not make an on the spot look, God of War references him more than once.

According to the promotional podcast The Lost Pages of Norse Mythology, Freyr worked to foster peace between his folks and also the Aesir tribes. Despite sharing his knowledge of magic and agriculture, the Aesir tried to burn Freyr alive. although the god escaped, the incident led to the Aesir-Vanir war.

While following the light of Alfheim, Mimir reveals Freyr has strong ties to the elves. beyond being one in every of few gods welcome in Alfheim, he has his own temple, a stunning construction to rival the Seven Wonders of the real world.

Within the temple, Atreus discovers a note written by a light Elf. In it, the author reveals they have retaken total of the light of Alfheim. although Norse deity sent forces and his legendary weapon, the god didn't seem to supply aid in person.

Freyr's absence and involvement with each the Aesir and therefore the elves raises plenty of questions. wherever is he? Why will his sister say nothing regarding his absence beyond advising Kratos to not interfere within the Alfheim conflict?

After Kratos and Atreus defeat Svartáljǫfurr, the Dark Elf king, he tells them they've "made a grave mistake." Some believe this hints at a larger mystery however, with such a large amount of missing pieces, this puzzle remains unsolved .

The Writings Of The Raven Keeper

Three codex entries stand out among the bits of traditional knowledge you gather throughout God of War, authored by an entity referred to as the Raven Keeper. They speak of Odin sealing off jaunt Asgard and Svartalfheim and conjointly reference the globe Serpent and Tyr's temple. In mythology, ravens have a robust association with Odin, making it seem at first glance that he wrote the documents. the game looks to support this as Odin sends icy ravens to act as his spies. Kratos will destroy these ravens, referred to as the Eyes of Odin, as a part of a side quest.

A closer examination of the phrasing utilized in the entries calls this assumption into question. First, the author refers to Odin by name, conjointly mentioning his title, the Allfather. Second, he calls Thor "noble Thor," like characteristic he's Aesir royalty and therefore of a separate category.

God of War portrays Odin as one thing of a paranoid egotist drunk on his own power. For that reason, it's doable he would possibly write about himself within the third-person. however if Odin did not write the entries, then another entity may be in play. Another look into Norse myth reveals Mimir may very well be the culprit as he gifted Odin with 2 magical ravens in exchange for his eye. maybe the truth will pop out within the next game.

Who blew the horn in Midgard?

Jörmungandr, the world Serpent, inhabits the Lake of 9, watching over Tyr's temple.

According to Freya, Jörmungandr appeared within the lake at some point and has remained there ever since. A horn close by can be used to summon the serpent from the watery depths.

Kratos and Atreus encounter the world Serpent more than once throughout their adventures, even getting into his belly to look for a misplaced sculpture. throughout the mission "The illness," Kratos rushes Atreus to Freya once he falls sick. whereas on the way to her hut, you hear the blow of the horn in the space.

Though Mimir comments on the incidence, the game never explains who blew the horn, exploit players to marvel why Santa Monica Studio included the detail. many theories have cropped up, attributing the action to Modi, Thor, Baldur, Sindri, Odin, and even future Atreus.

A tweet from Cory Barlog further added a lot of fuel to the fire, posing the question, "Who would be walking in their footsteps searching for them?"

Inspired by Norse mythology, a favourite fan theory suggests Heimdall is the offender and the horn in question is Gjallarhorn. though Heimdal doesn't appear within the game, he has robust ties to each Mimir and Loki. The Prose Edda describes Gjallarhorn as having a blast that "can be detected in all the worlds" and says that Heimdal would blow upon it to signal the beginning of ragnarok.

With Cory Barlog at the helm, the answer might be: "grin) None of the above."

Atreus single-handedly kills dozens of Dark Elves

One of Atreus' major turning points happens during the mission "The light of Alfheim." when fighting their way to the middle of the Dark Elf hive, Kratos enters the light. Within, he experiences a sequence of visions over what, to him, appears like a couple of days.

When Atreus pulls his father out of the light, you discover days has passed, during which the boy had to look after himself.

In an exceedingly heart-wrenching scene, Atreus yells at Kratos for leaving him behind again, asking his father why doesn't care. This confrontation happens amidst piles of Dark Elf corpses, hinting at how long Kratos left Atreus alone. Less clear is how Atreus managed to kill such a big amount of Dark Elves on his own, even with the Leviathan Axe in his possession.

The scene happens earlier within the game, at a point when Atreus had no magic arrows. Just a few scenes back, he had trouble hunting; currently, you are meant to believe he sent waves of Dark Elves throughout a solo run. This comes after an entire mission of Kratos struggling to try to do the same to reach the light in the initial place.

Some players believe he went into survival mode, coming into a protracted amount of rage that allowed him to kill such a lot
of opponents. along with his heritage, it's doable he tapped into some hidden well of power. Others feel this additional supports the split personality theory, or this was his first step on the path to turning into Loki

The Braided Mistletoe Arrows

You fight Baldur, the main antagonist of the game, several times in God of War. His mother Freya used magic to grant him invulnerability after predicting his death. While this made him one of the realm's most tremendous gods, the spell also removed his ability to feel anything.

This spell had a weakness, like all Vanir spells: mistletoe. Although inspired by the original Norse myth, you also discovere this in- game when Baldur punches Atreus and cuts his hand on the arrowhead of the mistletoe holding the quiver of the boy. This breaks the spell, making Baldur vulnerable. The story is compelling, but it raises several questions.

Only after receiving a bundle of mistletoe arrows from Sindri did Atreus have the arrow piece in his possession. Although given as a gift to save his life, you have to ask why the dwarf possessed mistletoe arrows. Why did he choose arrows made from the only material capable of hurting Baldur from everything he could have given Atreus? When Freya later takes the arrows from Atreus and destroys them, things get even more messy, but somehow he misses the piece on his quiver.

As a user on Reddit pointed out, despite appearing throughout the game, Sindri never appears when Freya is there. Did Sindri avoid Freya because he knew the weakness of Baldur and wanted to break the spell through Atreus? To be an accident seems too convenient.

God of War is a really nice game. I have recently finished that game, and it's actually very sad, because I liked the game very much. I didn't have what else to play, so I decided to try a new and really cool game ragnarok online. I was very surprised, because the game is pretty nice. It's a very popular MMORPG, and you can do almost anything you want in that game, and this is why it's that cool. Guys, if you have finished God of War and don't know what to play - I would suggest trying Ragnarok Online!
