What made Erica to be interested in being friends with Laycon was is intelligence and wisdom. It's this same intelligence and wisdom that made other HMs to start paying attention to Laycon, and at the same time try to be friends with him. So whether Erica was in the house, or decided to ignore Laycon earlier in the game, has no bearing to people coming around Laycon.
