Import ban is on land border ONLY, and also on vehicles above 15 years old. There's no prohibition on importing brand new cars. All the brand new cars in Elizade, Germaine, Mandilas, Coscharis, Dieu, Affordable etc were they not imported? As for Customs clearing, even though there are many grey areas and the process might not be equal for everybody, (that is, it depends on your clearing agent), nonetheless a 2020 Prado can never be cleared for N30m. Nobody will pay such amount. Unless you feel like dashing the government more money than is necessary. If you get yourself a competent honest clearing agent, you can't spend that amount for proper clearing. No! Even the law says 35% duty and a 35% levy tax on the cost of the vehicle. So how can you pay N30m? And 99.9999% of clearing cars, nobody ever pays 100% of the duty charges. The system is very "dynamic". That's why the big advantage here is that you clear it yourself and determine how you want it to be done with your own clearing agent. I hope I have been able to satisfy your inquiry.
