My fellow cutes, There is no need for all this unnecessary arguing with trolls here. What we all should be doing now is throwing our support behind Messi, the new coach and the team. we have a full season to prepare for. Messi will always be Messi and he will surely turn up when the season starts proper. I know with Suarez and few players out of the team, the players avalaible are more than capable to fill in the void. All i want is for peace to be in my club.

I am happy for lionel Messi because he has decided to stay. I think whether he will move next season or whether bartomeo did the right thing or not, do not really matter. "I think our only concern was the way he wanted to leave. "over 90% of Barca supporters are happy with all that LEO has done for us. However what we wanted for him was a beffiting goodbye ceremony. I was not angry that he wanted to leave, i was angry that we did not get the chance to say our final goodbye to him. I think the fans deserves that ceremony and now that we know he will be leaving next year, i think the club can now plan a final last lionel messi's match in camp nou. I think both Messi and the fans deservs that, the last match where we all cry together, chants of his name all over the stadium with all the fans putting on the number 10 jersey. This is what we want. HE has paid his dues, we fully support him but he needs to go in a ceremonial mode. "Now we will have to fight and give him a goodbye laliga trophy.

Hmmmmm. If Messi does not extend you guys really want to lose him for free? Bear in mind that he staying does not guarantee anything.

...That's if Bartomeu's psyche holds up till then. Most people don't realize it but a very vocal and sizeable section of the Barça fanbase are ultras. Have you seen them during rival games, street parades, clashes with rival fans, and online? Vicious but somehow we escape negative media coverage.

Online, for example, no fanbase trolls harder than Barça fans. Nicknames like "Missi", "Eibarman" and the likes have never trended on social media but whether Ronaldo is playing or not, Barça fans would make "Penaldo", "Tapnaldo" and "Tap-in Merchant" trend top ten on Twitter every week that Ronaldo gets to reacts to it in interviews every time.

I don't think Bartomeu can survive vicious attacks from those ultras if they turn on him. I actually want to see it happen. It'd be sweet to watch.
Well, would you look at that. The Barça ultras have turned on Bartomeu. He's been accused of corruption and upstaging the dynamics of the Barcelona and they are asking him to resign. Apparently players have turned against him now, especially Pique. Top trending issue on Twitter right now.
Worse even, Messi granted the exclusive interview to Goal.com which is pro-Messi and a very influential football media outlet with the most active community and engagements.

Should have been a season to make another record making deal and see what Dembele, Coutinho and Griezmann brings to the table. Coutinho and Griezmann turn 29 and 30 next season btw. A pity they are too scared to hand the keys of the team to players they bought for 9 figures.

How much could the Messi brand generate for Barcelona the next 1 season?

Really have no idea, am just asking.

If it's in the region of hundreds of millions then it would not be such a bad gamble to let him on for one more season and then lose him for free.

Barca simply don't trust this trio.

Despite having spent so much on them.

It will be the first time in a long while that we don't have arguably any one of the top 3 world footballers in our ranks.

I never believed he wanted to leave. The issue I have is the noise around the usual "I want to leave". After creating this much noise his only saving grace will be to win the UCL this season. BECAUSE If Messi under performs If barcelona under performs, Messi would be blamed this time around even by some of his most ardent supporters.

In the corporate world, handing a resignation letter to your current employer based on another offer letter received from a competitor is a red flag of loyalty. The management will cajole and convince you to stay back but never for mutually beneficial reasons but to hurt you. They would eventually make you redundant by getting someone to do your work. You would have lost the current offer and some one else would have learnt to do your job role before you get the boot. MESSI CASE MAY NOT BE TOTALLY SIMILAR TO THIS BUT THAT IS HOW BUSINESS WORKS

The players are good. Very good. There's just one thing: they lack what Messi has - that X-factor. That obvious superstar, headline-grabbing ability, mesmerizing quality about them and proven antecedence of leading a team.
Asides Messi and Ronaldo, the only other person currently in football who has that is Neymar, and those obvious features are why Barça bought Neymar, Messi saw him as his heir and now wants him to return. Same thing Ronaldinho and Barça saw in teenage Messi so it was relatively easier to let the former go.

The pain of letting Messi leave when he wanted to would have been at least slightly masked by the consolation of a heir like Neymar.

So why wouldn't he want to leave if a club with better players on current form came and offered him a better contract?

Oh wait, I know! I know!!

He's so scared to leave Barca because he would flop in another league outside Barca!!!

Forget all these noises these people are making.

I do not see any club in the world that would have let Messi go at 33. They don't wear the shoe.

A player who just won Ballon dor 9 months ago and who at 33 still statistically had the best individual performance in Europe.
Coupled with his commercial value!

Everybody can yap and yap and tap all day and all night,
But no club would have let this Messi go without a fight to keep him.

Stop being childish jere.

I always said it made no business sense to leave now or want to leave now.

IF you were Bartomeu WHAT WOULD YOU DO sell him for FREE?
Both parties are trying to make the best BUSINESS WISE DECISION for themselves.

Going on a free transfer means MESSI MAKES MOST OF THE MONEY
Going on a fee means Barca makes money from the TRANSFER

get your head sout of thinking its all about football. THIS ARE BUSINESS ENTITIES negotiating.

MESSI is a company while BARCA is a company too.

I agree with what you said here.

TO NOW FOLLOW THE PATH OF MESSI WANTING TO LEAVE (ASSUMING HE WANTED TO TRULY)
All the talk by MESSI not wanting to go to court because he loves Barca is the biggest lie in the whole saga. Where was the love when he handed a notice of wanting to transfer.

His lawyers would have told him he would loose the case terribly.

baba just recalled and retraced his steps. He would just re-strategise to ensure he leave with maximum full benefits next time he "wants" to

My point of disagreement is with you saying that Messi never wanted to leave.

With all the disappontmens of the last 3 seasons?

You think that Messi doesn't want to win more things before he retires?

If you Messi and Man City wanted to buy you and increase your wages,

What would hold you back?

1.Earn money
2.Play under Pep again
3.Play with a better team

Why would you say he doesn't want to leave?

Wetin this one dey talk,so he has no right want to move to another club because he loves Barca.

You Madrid fans will just cm here and start yapping nonsense all in the name of analysing what Barcelona probs are.Pls trow ur sentiments to the dawgs and speak with objectivity

When Ronaldo left Madrid because of salary issue u guys said he was looking for new challenge.

I heard he generates in the region of 200 million per annum. Don't know if it's true though but that man generates a lot of money through tourism for Barcelona(Spain). Not to even talk about what he brings into the league through sponsorships and TV deals

For the president of Argentina to publicly tell him to come back means they know his true worth

Absolutely. I said it yesterday that the only way that guy was leaving this season was through the courts and I don't think neither him or the club wants to go through that route. La Liga,Barcelona and probably the Catalonia govt are all going to be involved

If that figure is true then why would anybody want to let him go? cheesy

Esp when detailed stats prove that he's still the best?

I repeat let's leave all the noise; no club in the world can let a 33 year old Messi leave.
Maybe at 35.

The thing is that Bartomeu is very useless. Thiago is on the market for a relatively cheap price. He wont need to adapt to our style of play and will give us everything. A Thiago/De Jong double pivot will be very nice. Why are we not going for him?? angry angry

Messi is not even looking to be slowing down,so at 35,he will still be producing this numbers.

In today's football,30+ players are still on top of their game. 35yr old Silva just signed for Chelsea and is getting into the first team, Ibrahimovic is still playing as if he's in his mid 20s. Ronaldo is still here not to even talk about Messi

Messi still has at least 3 years ahead of him and you can guess what 3 years+ means for both the sporting and financial side of the game for any team that has him

Well what was Barca's revenue last season? I think that would give a clearer picture.

I don't believe a Messi exit will dent Barcelona's revenue in the 9 figures. They are too big a club for that to happen. The issue is on the playing side if you hold on to a Messi that may or may not give his best, that could get injured, that could be a victim of Father time and just decline naturally.

I'm looking at your squad, I can't see too much improvement. It's still Busquets, Pique and Lengelenge with Semedo and Alba in that defense. So what's the point of holding on to Messi and wasting another year of the good ones he has left
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by joviegghead: 12:37pm On Sep 05, 2020
so depay is almost certain of coming to barca. I'm kinda glad tho. cuz I've always liked him for his skill.
But I'll like someone to give our predicted line up for next season.
it's obvious barca as always won't touch that defence.
