He didn't word it like you just did. He said he doesn't know the mechanism of all that happened between her and Laycon and Erica told him she had told him all that happened and Kidd said okay, but continued that he'd know how to approach the issue (Speaking to Laycon) better if he knows all that played out between them as he wasn't with them all time. It doesn't mean he doesn't trust Erica. He was just being sensible because it's fair to hear from both parties, it had nothing to do with distrusting Erica.
