With the Nigerian B.Pharm certificate in US?
With B. Pharm in Nigeria, you can’t practice as a pharmacist in US, you have to go through conversion first, however you can still use your B. Pharm to practice as a pharmacy technician

Same goes for Nursing, Medicine too. As long as you are moving to any country you must write conversion exam

Let me burst your head, a pharmacist in USA that want to come and practice in Nigeria also need to go through same process

Since your focus is on money, instead of curing the sick as both of these professions enable, why dont you just go straight to stealing.
You're asking for lucrative? Stealing! Stealing is lucrative.

Pharmacy.
Drugs are brought in bulk and sold at very high profits.
Nurses only administer what doctors recommend and gives care to patients. Nurses are paid by doctors but it's from pharmacists you get recommendations and buy certified drugs. My personal observations.

Huncle why are you lying na. Nurses dont earn as much as doctors or surgeons. You guys should stop hyping nursing.

U are a daft going by ur uncouth language.

Now coming back to the issue. Lucrative in this context doesn't me highest paying job. When 50 students graduated from the course after 3yrs, how many have been secured good jobs.

Meanwhile in other to make high money in life, its not only tied with course you study but how you put in extral efforts to get more money.

A medical doctor that is only working in govt hospital can not rich as a pharmacy that open pharmacy shop in addition to govt job is doing.

Re: Pharmacy Vs Nursing: Which Is More Lucrative? by Nobody: 10:37am On Sep 07, 2020
If you are so pained about pharmacists making profit from their practice, you should do the honorable thing and stop buying and using medications. Poverty-afflicted soul that you are; once you feel someone is making money you immediately conclude it is extortion. You should practice your passion without lust and let us rest.

How much do nurses and clinics charge you for injecting an injectable they procure from us at less than N300 (three hundred naira)? Between N15 and N20k. But silly individuals bereft of the littlest amount of sense will call them extortionists. If you consider modern health care two expensive and too lust-driven, kindly consult your babalawos, dibias, and pastors and imams. It is a free world. The funny thing is that hypocritical people like you all want to study an health-related course, but you're just not able.

Tajbol4splend:

Even with your extortion style as pharmacists, exorbitant prices of your products, you are still far behind, I'm not saying you shouldn't get your money, but its lust kills passion which kills the ability which we see today

When you divide my IQ by 100, and find a logarithm of what is left, it is still infinitely higher than the IQs of all your family members (dead and alive) pooled together.

Google is your friend, consult it before posting here, and you might just succeed in making people think you aren't so dumb after all.

If you are outside the country, you can go for any. They are both good outside the country and both pay well but I think Nursing Pay is just a little bit more sha

all I can say is that we shouldn't use the excuse of going abroad to deceive the innocent op. she should go for nursing if she loves taking care of people and seeing people recover. she should go for pharmacy if she loves outreach and answering to people's needs on time. i rather be a pharmacist than be a nurse because I will be very sound in drugs. medicine is for the prestige and nothing more. how much do nurses earn when they work with government 120k at most and 300k. If you work for like 20years. what is the need of me studying a course if I can't use it in Nigeria. Nigeria has a lot of brain drain in pharmacy. ineptitude of hospitals in purchasing facilities. I won't advice any pharmacist to work in hospitals. The richest health professionals in the world own pharmaceutical industries and make a lot of dollars. Red Rock can't match that. As a young pharmacist you make money early live a balanced life and not always on calls. how much does an intern doctor earn 120k. at most 150k. before you can make 300k and above, it is either you are a consultant 0or work in a multinational company. This means you must have worked for at least 5 years after internship. now calculate this 7 years course plus internship and at least 5years residency making it 13 years excluding strike some time even fifteen years and what about entering a residency another problem. sorry for drifting go for nursing or for pharmacy. you don't really need residency for pharmacy but you need guidance. There other courses like optometry and dentistry and many more. I know all of these because I have friends in the health sector

You sound so knowledgeable about what nurses make except it is not entirely accurate. I have friends that make 450-650k in Nigeria as nurses, without their BSc, granted it's in the oil sector and all except one have specialty qualification outside general nursing but I also have another with 12yrs experience that makes 400k/month outside the oil sector, I've come across others that make way more in higher managerial positions, all private sectors. I also got a 150k/month offer as a neonatal intensive care nurse when I had less than 4 years nursing experience in 2017. I dont know the full details of the public sector except for those earning 115-150k and they dont have up to 20yrs experience like you stated so I'm not going to dive into that.

As far as traveling abroad goes, it's always good to weigh your options, I didnt even plan to relocate outside the country before or right after school of nursing in 2013 but during the 2016 recession, I had a rethink and God used nursing to bless me. I decided where I wanted to go from a list of US, UK, Republic of Ireland and Canada. The first 2 offered jobs, green card sponsorship and relocation expenses and Ireland offered 2 out of those 3. After I made up my mind on the one I wanted, wrote the required exams and applied for jobs, I got 3 jobs while I was in Nigeria, i chose 1 that offered the most for the shortest contract and good pay. Relocation and green card sponsorship was by the facility, they even offered to sponsor spouse and kids under 21 If I had any, they paid my flight ticket, first 2 months rent, entire visa process (I left the country with an immigrant(green card) visa), gave me a non interest car loan after I got here and helped me settle in. There was no nepotism involved. I'm sure you cant get that with pharmacy anywhere. There is also more job opportunities and career options for nurses home and abroad. Also, you actually dont need to be a pharmacist to set up a pharmacy, you just have to partner with one.

In this age of covid 19 ,if you are to go for nursing, and your target is travelling out...then write your will or make sure you have a child because you will be exposed and your life will be at a higher level of risk.
But if you want to live longer... ceteris paribus...remain with pharmacy. You may even dodge hospital pharmacy.
Na the money wey I get I borrow you ooo

I’m here to clarify the pharmacy comments. In some countries pharmacy(like medicine) is not offered at B.Sc level. You read a normal course for three years and then master in pharmacy for two( same thing). So if you go to those countries with your B.pharm, it will be treated like a normal B.Sc and you’ll still have to do two years masters. In order to practice. I think if you do pharm D in Nigeria then you’ll be able to practice anywhere with just licensing exam. Quote me for clarification or corrections

As a guy go for nursing, did you know there are specialized nurses that take care of only breasts?
I cover my wife breast with the blood of Jesus Christ from men who are specialist in breast matters.

Nursing gives you more choices and freedom.

You can open a chemist shop and you are more knowledgeable to give injections, do first aid there where's a pharmacist is limited.

Medicine business is lucrative o. Some malaria drugs sell at up to #500 profit per one. Not to talk of other drugs.

An average chemist shop makes #10000 profit daily or more.

#10 000 × 25 = #250 000 monthly - #100 000 on expenses = #150 000.

Don't shout o.
Guy you are there I have a friend that owns a pharmacy in nasarawa state he told me that he makes not les than 10'000k everyday though he has a nurse he employed but he's a type of guy that when he tells you 10'000 k you multiply it by 3 or even 4

I think pharmacy is better, you can set up a pharmacy shop and people will have to pay to get the drugs, patients will never want to pay for nursing care or doctors consulting fee, but for drugs...no argument they must pay.

Definitely pharmacy! Nursing is really really a hectic profession. Pharmacy is more lucrative as it gives you the opportunity to be a sole proprietor and your own boss and there's barely a pharmacy without an incorporated supermarket. So pharmacy is better

You get it wrong
Pharmacist are not limited. Out of all medical professionals, pharmacy is the most diversed
Pharmacy is what link the medical world to the business world in the aspect of community and industrial pharmacy practice

Why I said pharmacy is not limited is because as a doctor or nurse, you are only limited to hospital and probably academia( the ones that go to lecture) but been a pharmacist, there are many aspects; hospital, industry (Pfizer, Emzor and others), community pharmacy; which is the retail shop you buy drugs, e.g MedPlus. Now there is difference between a community pharmacy and a chemist. I would come back to that
Back to other aspects of pharmacy, there is administrative as well, that is the NAFDAC, NDLEA, and other regulatory drug bodies. Another aspect is the academia as well (the ones that go to teach as well). You can go into importing and exporting of drugs too. You see it is more diverse
Just like you said medicine business is lucrative, that is the aspect of community pharmacy and only a pharmacist is licensed to operate a community pharmacy. Due to it been lucrative, so many medical practitioners want to have one but to have one you need to have the pharmacy license
You see many doctors having community pharmacy, how? They collide with a pharmacist who has the license to use the pharmacist license to open one so at the end, the pharmacist is getting his/her commission. You can’t open one if you don’t have the license so you rather look for a pharmacist license to open one

Now to the difference between a community pharmacy and a chemist
A chemist is only required to sell OTC (Over The Counter) drugs. OTC drugs are drugs you don’t need prescription before you can buy, that is paracetamol and all those #10, #20 #50 drugs but a standard community pharmacy you deal with all drugs, poison and all. A community pharmacy deal with all drugs, the one that requires prescriptions and the ones that doesn’t and that is where the money is. Cancer drugs, Opiods, antipsychotics, antihypertensives, and many more. A bare chemist shop are not allowed to deal with this drugs and also a chemist don’t have the knowledge of drugs compare to a pharmacist
Go to a Chemist and Go to a pharmacy, ask for the same drug in both places and you wplus understand more and see the difference

A house officer (intern doctor as stated) earns close to 200k. Some may earn slightly higher even. And at the highest level of consultancy one can pocket close to a mill.
