There is a psychological explanation for this...

Some professional in the field explained it to my class back in the university during some programme and it sounded both crazy and sensible all at once to me.

I mean, look at the age at which she had the boy, how she put him up for adoption, didn't see him for ages and then had him back. It all fits the scenario that the psychologist painted to us back at the auditorium that day.

It's pretty much like you are 'mad' or to put it mildly, mentally challenged without even realizing it.
