I think the coach should be left to determine or sign any player he fancies because his job is on the line if the results are not favorable later.

Valverde wanted parejo they gave him Paulinho. Paulinho played well one season and they sold him. Barca's problem is the board not the coaches. Valverde never wanted for coutinho to be signed, even Antoine Greizmann, the board just sign players radically

I was following you until you said Valverde don't count..... Had that notion too before... After seeing what Setien did with the team after Valverde left.... I think we all know better....

As for thiago and the Dutch guy (can't get the right spelling).... I think both players has the same attributes to an extent.... But I prefer thiago.... He's versatile.... Has that Spanish and Barcelona flare.... Can hold on to the ball.... Good vision.... Physical too....skillfull.....

Truth be told also EV wasn't a good coach. A player like Denis Suarez should have been given more playing time. Messi should have become a more central attacking midfielder than a second striker. In spite of this EV still won the league twice. Injury prone dembele should be sold this season. I see no reason keeping him. Coutinho should play from midfield. Greizmann should play from his favourite flank. Messi should be deployed as a false nine

Dembele is good.....Denis Suarez well okayish but too inconsistent...
EV winning 2 leagues should plague our judgement....that team had a free ride....no one was even challenging...it was a free ride....the real test came in the UCL....and he embarrasses us ......from 4-1 first leg to 3-0 loss....from 3-0 first leg to 4-0 loss....we still had iniesta for those 2 seasons......and the team was younger....
Season 2019/2020... EV really outdid himself from the team playing like it was on autopilot....no drive no ginger at all...to the Athletico Super Cope...debacle......
The problem with graizmann and messi is that messi seem to favour playing with Suarez has he is a striker...who plays off the backs of the defender, he also frees lots of space for him....messi sees himself as more of a striker along with Suarez ....but in the case of graizamann he will have to play the right wing...for graizmann to flourish.......
Graizmann shouldnt have been bought in the first place....its only a tactical genuis like Gardiola that really define the role of those 2 players.....
