It is called envy. That sense of loathe for what you don't/can't have. And it is very rife in Nigeria. If health professionals go on strike to demand better conditions, many Nigerians come out to attack them because they feel that people who are 'well' paid should not demand any more... In fact, they believe doctors and health professionals should simply render their professional services without collecting kobo... That is how Nigerians define saving lives... So yes, it isn't surprising that medicine should be dragged even when the discussion is about nursing and pharmacy. I believe the envy of Nigerians is most intense against doctors.

Sir, if not for this COVID break, I would have been a Doctor by now and I'm telling you that even consultants hardly get that salary. The reason why some consultants might be getting that high is because they are also getting salary from the university as lecturers. Mind you, they will also have to be long time consultants.

What is a pharmacist nurse? I have worked in the U.S and Europe with no license...It wasn't needed. Only clinical roles require it. You have limited knowledge of pharmacy scope of practice. What you don't know, ask or search deeper.

I have friends that make 450-650k in Nigeria as nurses, without their BSc, granted it's in the oil sector and all except one have specialty qualification outside general nursing but I also have another with 12yrs experience that makes 400k/month outside the oil sector, I've come across others that make way more in higher managerial positions, all private sectors. I also got a 150k/month offer as a neonatal intensive care nurse when I had less than 4 years nursing experience in 2017. I dont know the full details of the public sector except for those earning 115-150k and they dont have up to 20yrs experience like you stated so I'm not going to dive into that.

As far as traveling abroad goes, it's always good to weigh your options, I didnt even plan to relocate outside the country before or right after school of nursing in 2013 but during the 2016 recession, I had a rethink and God used nursing to bless me. I decided where I wanted to go from a list of US, UK, Republic of Ireland and Canada. The first 2 offered jobs, green card sponsorship and relocation expenses and Ireland offered 2 out of those 3. After I made up my mind on the one I wanted, wrote the required exams and applied for jobs, I got 3 jobs while I was in Nigeria, i chose 1 that offered the most for the shortest contract and good pay. Relocation and green card sponsorship was by the facility, they even offered to sponsor spouse and kids under 21 If I had any, they paid my flight ticket, first 2 months rent, entire visa process (I left the country with an immigrant(green card) visa), gave me a non interest car loan after I got here and helped me settle in. There was no nepotism involved. I'm sure you cant get that with pharmacy anywhere. There is also more job opportunities and career options for nurses home and abroad. Also, you actually dont need to be a pharmacist to set up a pharmacy, you just have to partner with one.

Every course in Nigeria doesn't guarantee fortunes in anyway and most of us know about this and we still chose that path not because of the money or the job availability but because that's what we've been called to do..The read deal to some of us is about 'Saving lives'..it doesn't matter if it's at FMC Kogi or health center in oba ile...What matters to us is getting to save lives...Not every Doctor wants to be rich or money freak...We chose it because it's the best job in the world. I’m here to clarify the pharmacy comments. In some countries pharmacy(like medicine) is not offered at B.Sc level. You read a normal course for three years and then master in pharmacy for two( same thing). So if you go to those countries with your B.pharm, it will be treated like a normal B.Sc and you’ll still have to do two years masters. In order to practice. I think if you do pharm D in Nigeria then you’ll be able to practice anywhere with just licensing exam. Quote me for clarification or corrections

I mean as a nurse, for uk, you can write your IELTS and CBT NMC UK in Nigeria, if you pass, agencies would look for you. You don't need any additional training to start working when you get iver there except you want to upgrade and have more certs. For pharmacy, the process is long, and complicated. You need huge financial backing. And you might be denied visa cos u can't do the processing here, you need to go there to do it. If you need more info, check foreign forums.

If you are a pharmacist, you have no business traveling abroad. There is too much money to make in the business side of the profession in Nigeria. For a population of about 210 million people we have less than twenty thousand pharmacists actively practicing in Nigeria, and less than 50% of that number is involved in community practice. All the twenty thousand pharmacists are hardly enough for Lagos state alone. Pharmacists have no business not becoming millionaires and billionaires, unless you are averse to doing business.

You don't need to be a pharmacist to open a pharmacy shop. You can have one as farmer and employ a pharmaceutical to register

Again, how many pharmacist are employed by hospitals?

It is not about winning any argument, it's about staying within the limits of your knowledge. I decided to write a little detail so you would learn. Even what one knows sometimes may be obsolete and may need to be updated. I am open to learning from anybody but not when it's obvious you lack understanding of the topic/issue. You have never seen nor read the Pharmacists Act (PCN Act), yet you are dishing out false information on partnership and pharmacy ownership. It is wrong. Well, I hope you'd learn. Goodluck.
