calebify1:Bro,,I know lots of pharmacists....most of them are in the dispensary,,few are with pharmacetical companies... It is not like there are no nigerian pharmacists who have migrated and ended up practicing in the U.k or U.S ,but they are not just common...It is very possible chief...Impossibility is nothing.. Why do you see Nigerian Doctors' exodus in the news every now and then??its cos they are moving in large numbers... |

![]() It is called envy. That sense of loathe for what you don't/can't have. And it is very rife in Nigeria. If health professionals go on strike to demand better conditions, many Nigerians come out to attack them because they feel that people who are 'well' paid should not demand any more... In fact, they believe doctors and health professionals should simply render their professional services without collecting kobo... That is how Nigerians define saving lives... So yes, it isn't surprising that medicine should be dragged even when the discussion is about nursing and pharmacy. I believe the envy of Nigerians is most intense against doctors. Protein0: |

Protein0:It's too much of inferiority complex..When they fail or afraid to even try to get it, then they resort to consoling themselves by trying to prove they made the best choices.. |

homesteady:Lol ...Hospital Doctors earn more than Hospital Pharmacists off course ...but same cannot be said for a Pharmacist who indulges in the Business aspect |

Odion2016:Then what's your point. So he should just go and study nursing because Nigerian pharmacists are rare abroad. Most of you quoting me are taking me out of context. All am doing is making the op realize whatever decision he takes, he'll still do well. |

sweettease:What is a pharmacist nurse? I have worked in the U.S and Europe with no license...It wasn't needed. Only clinical roles require it. You have limited knowledge of pharmacy scope of practice. What you don't know, ask or search deeper. |
| Re: Pharmacy Vs Nursing: Which Is More Lucrative? by AlphaT1(m): 10:23pm On Sep 08, 2020 |
sweettease:In many countries around the world, only the pharmacist can own a pharmacy. In the U.S, only few states (e.g Washington) allow non-pharmacists to own a premise, but even at that you still need a pharmacist's license to run it. Infact, no body, no pet, no stone can open the shop if the pharmacist is not around. He makes the crucial business decisions, the owner is just there because he/she brought the capital. Even in lawless Nigeria, you need a pharmacist license to operate a pharmacy. It is impossible to own a pharmacy shop without a superintendent pharmacist doing the registration for you. You equally need a pharmacist manager to own 60% of the shares. Forget the lawlessness you see around, if the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) decides to work, many of the so called shops you think just anybody can set up will be shut down and their owners jailed....It is always good to stick to what you know. Don't assume you know. I don't want to go into other details. |

AlphaT1:You finally decided to have a logical argument on the topic. Either way, I already figured there is no winning or compromise with you and I'm not going to be stuck in this loop of one against the other so.... Hasta la vista! |

MrEgghead:Medicine is trash. Forget ego play, read your book and graduate. I discovered its only students who come to Nairaland to brag. Wait till u get licensed ok? You don't have bragging rights now. Your seniors do not brag even. |

calebify1:There's not ready job market for pharmacist abroad. You will go through hell to get licensed. With about 500k and passing exams all written in Nigeria, you will be sought after by recruitment agencies to UK. That's the truth. If anyone nurses the ambition of abroad, stay away from pharmacy. |

banjo022:I mean as a nurse, for uk, you can write your IELTS and CBT NMC UK in Nigeria, if you pass, agencies would look for you. You don't need any additional training to start working when you get iver there except you want to upgrade and have more certs. For pharmacy, the process is long, and complicated. You need huge financial backing. And you might be denied visa cos u can't do the processing here, you need to go there to do it. If you need more info, check foreign forums. |

blowjohn:Thing is, you don't need to be a pharmacist to open such shop. Mist of those big pharmacies are not owned by pharmacist. All that is required is a pharmacist to tender his licence to open such shop |
| Re: Pharmacy Vs Nursing: Which Is More Lucrative? by Nobody: 7:06am On Sep 09, 2020 |
bizme:Your post is about RN entry level and not BNsc entry level. Comoare degrees with degree and not degree with diploma. Pharmacist earn more but your above comparison is flawed. Again, how many pharmacist are employed by hospitals? No pharmacist should aspire to work in hospital anyways. |

sweettease:It is not about winning any argument, it's about staying within the limits of your knowledge. I decided to write a little detail so you would learn. Even what one knows sometimes may be obsolete and may need to be updated. I am open to learning from anybody but not when it's obvious you lack understanding of the topic/issue. You have never seen nor read the Pharmacists Act (PCN Act), yet you are dishing out false information on partnership and pharmacy ownership. It is wrong. Well, I hope you'd learn. Goodluck. |
