So many reasons.

1. With the online audition, applicants would have had several chances to perfect their presentation before sending the final clip to the organizers. For a physical interview, you only have one chance to prove yourself thereby making any mistake more costly.

2. Online audition boosts confidence more than a physical audition.

3. Due to the highly uncomfortable logistical stress of attending physical auditions (i.e jostling with tens of thousands of candidates all day), a Laycon (and other HMs) might not have even been encouraged to apply in the first instance.

4. Different selection criteria might be used in a physical audition from an online audition.
