Good nairalanders,

I have been meant to ask this question for a very long time. In Nigeria Junior WAEC i.e JSS3 certificate is becoming very irrelevant in the Nigeria labour market, you will see employers demanding and asking of Primary school leaving certificate i.e primary 6 certificate but will never ask of Junior WAEC certificate, but the attention that the exam draws when it's time to write it is massive and the financial burden it lays on parents is unhealthy.

I remember when i wrote mine, the stress i had to pass through in order to raise the funds for the exam, yet the certificate is irrelevant in our country and society.

The big question is why has the government not scrapped it off.
What is it's relevance in our society?

Op just said my mind , u need to see how dem use put fire for our nyash hyping that rubbish exams , our principal told us that year that it is same thing as senior waec can u imagine

Nope, alot of people dont do common entrance exams

With the introduction of the 9-3-4 system I was hoping the jss3 certificate BECE takes the place of the PSLC. But up till this moment govt still conduct leaving exams for pry 6 pupils.
Problem we have in this country is approving policies which cannot be implemented.

Common Entrance Examination is different from First School Leaving Certificate... In fact, the former does not attract any certificate; it's only used to determine those who merit a slot at the Fed. Unity Colleges littered all over the country.

Junior WAEC is as good as loads of garbage. That shit should be scrapped off. That year I bested my class in Junior WAEC, I thought I had made it in life

Junior waec is mere formality..

After writing the exams I did not bother checking the result, because it was in relevant.
