First off, look at the body and ensure that it is not worn out. Then, check the configuration (like processor speed, RAM, internal memory, the ports, etc.) Then, check the internet connection to make sure it is working fine. Check the connectivity provisions too.

Check if the disk Drive is functioning properly
Check ram size
Check ROM
WiFi card
And battery capacity
