What happened was mere diplomatic fact finding mission. Vice president's visit was for a different event and he used that opportunity to meet with the traders, no indication of him meeting with Ghana government officials on same.

Ghana president visited Nigeria on Sunday, there's the likelihood discussions may center around it but I can bet his visit was to brief Buhari on the Mali crisis and perhaps border closure issues.

A bilateral agreement is the result of a high-level meeting between both countries' cabinet etc... It may take years to arrive at because concessions has to be met.

Yes, just like Akuffo Addo spoke to Buhari many times about the border closure and Buhari told him they would look into it. Almost 2 years now and they are still looking into it.

Maybe they are not in an area impacting Ghanaian traders so they are not attracting attention . More so , their area of operations may be benefiting Ghana so Ghana can choose not to implement the law but the moment their operations start to create friction and possible social strife with Ghanaian traders it would be game over.

Remember the problems Nigerians are having now is they are largely operating in the spare parts niche , an area causing a lot of impact to the Ghanaian traders who are agitating the enforcement of the laws.

It works this way for all countries.

Why does Nigeria still has its borders closed ?

Closed border has nothing to do with it, that's the last line the Ghanaian government could resort in other to justify this whole saga, it has been used has a political tool to foster and manipulate the minds of Ghanaians for their political deceptions over the years. The blame and joke now is on the Nigerian government that has refused to resolve this issues since 2007, before the closure of the border there were series of harassment from GUTA(Ghana union of traders association) on Nigerian Retailers.
A country says this is our sovereign laws to protect the Ghanaian people, why can't the Nigerian Retailers obey those laws?
It is foolish on the side of the Nigerian Retailers and disgusting for the government not to have resolve this issue since 2007.

Closure of the shops and closure of the Nigerian borders are not related , but the two actions can be said to be implemented in the interest of sovereignty .
