Edo Election: I Am Yet To Address The Press After The Election - Ize-Iyamu by kahal29: 12:02pm On Sep 24, 2020
The Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organisation has called on the traditional media to perform due diligence in reporting events arising from Edo State, as unprofessionalism would render them as tools for PDP.

This was in a statement by the Director of Communication and Media of the Campaign Organisation, Mr John Mayaki, who reacted to claims that APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to return to APC yesterday at a press conference in Abuja.

Mayaki, who noted that nothing of such happened, explained that a section of the media (The Punch and ThisDay Newspapers) have lent themselves to the fabrications of Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP, as they did throughout the election.

"We warned several times that the media should beware of fabrications from Obaseki and the PDP camp, but a section wouldn't listen. That is why they have reported that the election was free and fair, and that is why they have said our candidate appealed to Obaseki to come back to APC. The video in reference is from three months ago, not after the election but doctored by Governor Obaseki media handlers to seek undue legitimacy", he disclosed.

He also wondered if the newspapers who reported this falsehood were being sponsored by Governor Obaseki and the PDP, as it seemed implausible that they actually believed the story. This is even more so, when reporters in Benin city would report Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who is currently in Abuja where the various media organisations are also domiciled - this is to tell you the intention behind the video, the suspicion inherent in it and the reports you see in the Punch and ThisDay Newspapers.

"Pastor Ize-Iyamu was reported in the stories as speaking from Abuja, but it was the Benin reporters that covered the story. Were the reporters transported to Abuja? Do these media agencies actually believe the stories they carry? Obaseki and the PDP have a way of leaking false news to the media and the media has to be sensitive and professional in receiving these news."

Meanwhile, Mayaki also warned that there is a fake twitter account purporting to belong to Pastor Ize-Iyamu, which has been disseminating false information. He warned the media to avoid it like a plague and verify all their information before passing them on.

He said, "I only wish that this section of the media had been more professional during the elections; they were not and what is done is done. They don't know how violent and anti-democratic it was in several parts of Edo State, including Egor in Benin City, and so they reported that the elections were free and fair. At least, going forward, let them verify all news before passing it on. It is the basic ethic of the profession".

This is bad.. Your hatred for President Buhari and the Yorubas will only make them more popular and endearing to all well-meaning Nigerians.

I am sure if you are asked to choose between Silver and Gold and Hatred, you'll choose hatred..

You need to give your life to love, honor and patriotism.

Too bad, IPOB, a proscribed group, has decided to unleash all manner of propaganda to paint the good people of Nigeria, who still have faith in Nigeria, bad.

But in the end, they are terrorists. This is what terrorists do. But the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them.

God bless President Buhari.
God bless Vice President Osinbajo.
God bless Nigerians.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Seriously, you need to change. This country belongs to you and me and everyone. It doesn't belong to any particular group. If we don't join hands together to move this country to the promised land, who will? The Chinese? Please let's be guided. This is our home. This is our heritage. We are stronger United. We are one United family. The same blood runs through our veins.

God bless you.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
God bless President Mohammadu Buhari and his loyal Vice.

No, not true. It's just propaganda sponsored by Ipob and the enemies of Nigeria to cause division. The Fulanis are just a part of the brotherhood. So are the Igbos, the Yorubas, the Igalas and other ethnic groups.

We shouldn't let the flaws of our fellow humans destroy our bond.

Even though President Buhari and Osinbajo are the best leaders, they still have their flaws, like every other human being. We should focus on our strengths and not our weaknesses.

May God bless us all...

Haa! Na so una fear IPOB reach? You are even more scared of IPOB than fulani herdsmen and boko haram who are globally recognized terrorists! Is it the lily-livered law that promotes and encourages BH and fulani herdsmen/bandits that has long arms to catch up with an organization that has no business with Edo elections?

No, IPOB is scared of Nigeria for reasons best known to the group.

But I suspect it has to do with over entitlement of some bunch of lazy youth. Youth who are afraid of competing with other competitive youth. Youth seeking shortcut to success.

You claim the Fulanis and the Yorubas are dominating. Brother tell me, do they have two heads? You attack successful Igbo men for being pro-Nigeria. Brother, tell me, do they have two heads?

Why is IPOB so cowardly? Why can't they compete with other youth? Why are they scared?

This is a question you should be asking Nnamdi Kanu. It's better than peddling cheap rumors and propaganda every now and then.

Your assumption that IPOB is scared to compete is predicated on a very wrong n flawed premise. However, assuming without conceding that your position is correct, why is it a crime to decide to stay away from the so called competition and forge one's own part separate from others?

Is it an act of terrorism to demand at least a formal discussion of terms of existence or outright separation? Are the destinies of all ethnic nations in Nigeria inexorably tied together? If an arrangement does not suit you is it not best to walk away than continue in an unworkable situation?

On a final note, it is absolutely dishonest to claim IPOB disseminated the information that Iyamu has now debunked. You know very well that the Edo elections have absolutely no relationship with IPOB but you deliberately weave them in just for whatever reason. You may need to reevaluate who the actual coward is.

It's because the constitution doesn't have that provision and even forbids it. No secession clause.

Ipob should join hands with the law makers to do the right thing.

Please note that we Patriots are not against Ipob. We are only against illegality.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
