Good day Nlanders. I have a friend that's doing his post graduate course in Osun state but he stays in lagos. most times his apartment is locked up for 3 months when he is school but he still sends NEPA BILL to his Lagos apartment.

So my question now is:

Is he supposed to be paying a bill he is not using?

Note: the house is on estimated billing not prepaid.

pls your contribution(s) is seriously needed, as he is about going back to school. he wants to know if he is doing the right thing, if not, he wants to put an end to it. at least let the landlord know before he travels back to school.

thanks in advance for your contribution.

mod pls help me do the needful.

First, since your friend his paying the house rent while he's away then he should be paying the power bill since its estimated billing.

Had been we have good and proactive government with the masses at heart your friend won't be paying for electricity bill because he will have his personal prepaid meter in his apartment.

The FG has instructed the DISCOS companies to meter every house and failing to do so they shouldn't be charging such customer's more than #2000.00 but believe me the Discos are hoarding the pre-paid meter, still giving their customers outrageous estimated bills knowing fully the government can do nothing.

Do you know why he be like that? In FELA voice " Na padi padi government we dey oooo " the owners of the DISCOS are people in government grin This is Nigeria as FARS talk.

It's simple he should just disconnect the light since he is not using it undecided

because once the light is still connected they will assume he is still using it and he will have to pay the bills. Moreover they is no way to prove that he is not using the light since it is he is not using a prepaid meter
