End of the road for Okada but government should help them with alternative jobs. I remember they pay taxes with tickets daily here and there.

Where did get this headless okada rider..?

Was totally against the banned earlier. Looking back now, I think it's a good decision. There is more sanity now.

Government should work towards creating and funding Vocational centres in every local government. This country need skilled technicians and craftsmen.

Riding Okada was just the easy way out. It brings food to the table but does not really add to the overall economy. It's negative development in my own opinion.

Do you think this corrupt govt can create anything but hardship

Why Agbero are treating like kings.
Had banned of Okada stopped traffic, accident, crime in Lagos? Answer is capital NO.

The Oga of Agberos has been anointed by the Lagos ultimate godfather as the next governor for smart Lagosians who can only wail but will continue their contribution to his bullion vans.

I don’t want to be a rep, a senator or a governor, says MC Oluomo

The chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers Musiliu Akinsanya has dispelled rumours that he is planning to contest for a political office in Lagos State in the future.

The known All Progressives Congress’s supporter, however, said is fully in “support” of the party in government in the state.

The union boss popularly known as MC Oluomo made the clarification while speaking with Funmi Iyanda on Public Eye.

“The constitution permits anyone to contest,” Akinsanya said in Yoruba. “But count me out of it (contesting).”

“I don’t want to be a rep, a senator or a governor,” he said.

Akinsanya also said on Public Eye that NURTW has set up a committee to ensure fares in different parts of the state do not get too prohibitive for commuters following the state government’s directive cutting passenger limits for different types of vehicles after coronavirus lockdown in the state was washed off.

The government also imposed a statewide ban on the operations of commercial motorcyclists.

Lagos State has the highest coronavirus burden in Nigeria with 2099 cases as of May 14.

“I gave out my number at a recent forum so that people can call to report cases of hike in fare,” Akinsanya said. “We have also set up a task force to that effect.”

Well it is your opinion.
but I have a question for you, is it only in Nigeria that okada and marwa is been use?

Do you know how much revenue okada is generating to the Nurtw?

Can every body be a skilled technician or craftsman?

How is riding okada as a graduate or as an illiterate is been termed as the easy way out??

If you go to Dangote refinery and several offshore oil platforms, you will discover that most of the expatriates on board aren't university graduates. However, their monthly pay could be far higher be the annual salaries of the Nigerians there. With highly skilled workers, we don't need these Chinese, Indians, Lebanese et al.

We need to get the youths back to skilled crafts- welding, plumbing, HVAC etc. A country like Nigeria still need a strong manufacturing base to enhance our development. We are not yet ripe for a services based economy.

Why ride Okada when you can acquire productive skills and earn better? The country also conserves it's FX this way. NCDMB is really trying in this regards but government needs to do more.

An excercise in futility, it's hard winning any case against the Lagos state government!

It's extremely hard; I'd advise they move in onto something else that is profitable to do.

God will see them through!

What is the total population of the Nigerian youth vs the total Population of Okada riders??

"Easy way out" Jobs as you tagged it isn't the reason we re short of skilled personnel, matter of fact, it has nothing to do with it

So now that the ban has happened where re the functioning Skill acquisition and Vocational centers? where re the opportunities for native skilled personnel in Nigeria?

we all like to cut the head off whenever we have slight headache in this country

The markets will soon resume every day opening and we'll see...

and I feel pained somehow that after seeing everything happening around you, you still seem to be blaming the citizenry for lack of skills required to push the country forward, perhaps you're part of the 1%, perhaps you have no idea what it's like in the real world.

I am not part of the privileged few neither am I blaming the citizenry. I used Gokada alot last year.

To be honest, the skills massive acquisition programmes should have come before the ban. But security wise, the ban was timely. I can't count the number of robberies and crimes that were perpetrated by people with bike as the escape route.

The ban returned sanity to my area. It's painful but it's the best looking at it from my experiences.

I waste valuable man hours in traffic everyday too. It's not funny at especially now that several roads and bridges are closed for repairs. Most of the roads should be reopened by January (hopefully). It's not easy I must say.

You have a very valid point all the same.
