Time will tell. However you don't need a fortune teller to let you know that Kepa problem is not due to manager, nor is Alonso's slowness or Emerson's tendency not to follow the runner.

Lampard could easily play 3 defenders to mitigate these weaknesses like Arteta does, and like Lampard himself did last season, but when you are training a team to play attacking football due to the investment in the team, you keep the same structure so players get used to the team pattern till all the players are fit. This may mean weak players leave you more exposed in the short term, which is what's happening now. That may mean playing Alonso at leftback knowing he is a poor leftback but a decent LWB. You can't change the structure of the team to accommodate your weakest players knowing they are just placeholders for when the better players comeback. For example, if you play 3 defenders, you can only play 2 CMs and we have like 8 CMs, so you would be wasting Havertz and co talent just to accommodate Rudiger, Chris and Alonso weakness.

They are repeating what they did in 2016 that lead to them loosing.
