It's ironic that you think I'm not a business man, but I'm not sure you understood my post. I don't deny that packaging is important. What I did say is that the lack of good packaging is typical for a manufacturing company at this stage in its life, and that with time, they will get to that point.

If you look at long-lasting companies like Kia, Samsung, and LG (Korean companies), you'll see that they've evolved their packaging over our lifetime. They used to look absolutely terrible 30 years ago (in comparison with slick American and Japanese companies), but now they are some of the most sophisticated around. You can see the same happening with Chinese companies.

Packaging definitely helps sell products by many multiples, no doubt. But it's the reputation of how well products work that gives companies lasting power. With the fixed, shallow pockets of younger companies, money spent on packaging is money not spent on the quality of the product. If people are initially fooled by your slick packaging, they won't be buying your product again if the quality vs. cost is not right. In fact, they will actively advise others not to buy, despite the packaging.

I think we're not on the same page about the word packaging: my assumption is it has more to do with advertising, slick images, than on the product itself. So when I say spend more money on quality, I'm looking at the design and reliability of the product, choice of materials, etc, and not on marketing campaigns.

If I misunderstood, my apologies...

My experience is that when young companies go all out on advertising, packaging, etc, there's less money spent on the product itself, which can mean long-term failure.

What this guy needs is a way to address the fears of why Nigerians don't patronize his brand ....which is the fear that the car might not last long. This he can address by giving a 5 year Bumper to Bumper warranty more like what the Korean brands did to place them on par with their Japanese competition. Hyundai and Kia were considered the pits of Car brands before they started giving customers Bumper to Bumper warranties. Now they are almost on the same level as their competition. His logo is too Archaic and ugly, he needs to streamline and make it appealing like the one that Young Man designed for him . In fact, this guy need to hire an international Public Relations firm to manage his Brand's image . As it is now ,he is the one doing the image making and he doesn't have a good command of English.....how can I buy your car ??. He needs to open Mini Outlets in Major Cities like Abuja, PH and Lagos and not isolate himself in Nnewi. I love this man's Patriotic resilience but he needs to step it up and GIVE UP that Aba Businessman's mentality.
