I just saw this smoke trail in the sky now at Ikeja, Lagos.

That's condensing water vapour/ cloud from a jet engine

Jet engine suck air like fan, compress it and send it out so as to move and gain thrust, just as ship propeller also takes in water to push the boat forward, while motorised boats leave bubbles trail, jet engine leaves this

In this case the engine drew in clouds or condensed water vapour

It happens when the emissions from an Airplane mixes up with the gases in the atmosphere at higher altitudes.... yielding a COLD GAS..... that's discharged as the airplane heads in a particular direction.
