Hello All, please I need your advise and counsel on the plumbing work below. The plumber advised we connect the water pipe through the parapet because of better water pressure and because the Stanchion would be placed very close to the building, hence the pipe connecting the water tank to the first floor won’t be noticeable. While the water supplying the first floor passes through the parapet, the one for the ground flow will be connected to the building underground. Please I need your advise if this is ok or otherwise. Thanks!
Don't connect the water supply through the parapet...this will not increase water pressure rather it will decrease it.
There will be no enough head. The best solution is to use weight of the water from d water tank to drive pressure.....as the water descends from the tank it will gain pressure to push up.

Saw this construction

They started the piling immediately after the lockdown in May and now roofing.

After the piling and ground slab, instead of setting blocks, they did columns and beams, decked, moved to the upper floor, no setting of blocks, just columns and beams, now about to roof.

Is this really okay?

yes, it is Okay n acceptable

I’ve always wondered about this.

What you posted makes sense because the bottom of the tank wing be too far from the shower head in this scenario.

It will work perfectly except for ease of maintenance. You will be climbing the stanchion anytime you want to cut off supply to the upper floor.

Not impossible! But not without a tweak to your hall design.

2 cars requires 50sqm (parking and drive/maneuver) space

On the contrary, there will be lower head due to friction losses in the longer pipe length and several bends.

I’ll move the VT into the hallway for privacy.

I feel the real estate allocated to the balcony is a bit much. Once the VT has been moved then you can create a protected sideways entry with a small arrival alcove. I hate opening doors directly into living room.

I’m not an architect.

thanks for this,

If I open that passage wall as you depicted, it means visitors in the living room will see movement to and fro the rooms and kitchen

As for the VT window and the new dining side window will open to the enclosed staircase, isnt this an issue.

can i ask for an open stair case?

Yes.
Have a multifloor building and make one of the floors a car park or concrete roof car park.

Between buying a haulage truck for business and building a tenanted house at the same cost for instance, which is more profitable?

As Brabus advised before, and I accept, “Stop Creating Solutions To Problems That Doesn’t Exist” cheesy

I’ll rather have my visitors download data in privacy. In the USA we have as such as exhaust fans but one has to consider the power issue in Nigeria.

I like what you’re doing though, measuring twice before cutting once.

Correct. This is the only issue. Utility and maintenance.

Water pressure is determined by difference in height between the tank and point of use so doesn't matter if the pipe runs via the ground floor first but any longer pipe run will involve more losses.

edoman2016:

It depends on the location and your experience. For instance, I’ve invested in dump truck and I was able to recoup my investment in less than 8 months.
I’ve also invested a house and I’ve not earned any kobo on it in 5 years. I’ve instead in some cheap land and I was only able to make 10% profit in 5 years.

If you consider the initial capital outlay and the time it takes to recoup your investment, a dump truck might be more profitable both in the short and long term.

Whatever you do, don’t forget to insure your asset.

______
You can practically build any house almost half the price when you own a dump truck. Buy correct one though!

You can actually squeeze in more cars if you have a great parking team. Otherwise, playing around your hall design might be the only way to achieve your goal.
You can make the hall longer and not wide to achieve space for angle parking. It’s easier and also faster to park in angle parking. You can actually add more parking spaces in a small area.

This is another B2B abi B2C logistics/supply management issue and something I mentioned last week.

Having a business is never enough in Nigeria, you need to also learn all the intricacies.
Unfortunately government ain’t doing well enough in protecting her citizens. They’re only interested in milking Nigerians without providing any value in return. I don’t think it’ll cost CAC anything huge to provide every business owners an handbook on this (digital or otherwise).
Today, anyone with a mobile phone and an account on Jiji is a businessman.

Thank God you didn’t run into the hand of kidnappers. It’s tough doing online business with unverified contacts. You need to do a lot more to protect yourself and whatever happen in between

Again, this is one area we aren’t getting it right in Nigeria.

Consumer Protection = 0
Suppliers right = 0

We need better legislation on electronic communications and transactions that protect consumers/suppliers alike and also ensure that a proper process is followed by suppliers and purchasers when goods are bought, transactions are cancelled and items returned.

It’s not enough to be firing missiles after every failed transactions. We need to learn and understand how to protect ourselves.

For consumers/purchasers, before purchasing any expensive/cheap/fragile item online, or something that you are a bit unsure about, make sure that you familiarise yourself with the supplier’s terms and conditions and refund policy before making your purchase.

Don’t always be in a rush!

For suppliers, not all that glitters are gold in a faceless world. I’ve been engaged to build 2 house by a man who have just N3.5m in his account. Guess what, he drives a N50m car. grin
Thank God, I wasn’t gullible to deliver all the materials used for the project to the Client’s site. I made arrangement to drop the materials at a location near the site.
I also made the customer understand that I reserve the right of disposal of the goods until certain conditions are fulfilled.
I didn’t waste time to sell off the materials when the agreement was breached.

For suppliers, always exercise lien and retain possession of the goods, until full payment of the agreed price.

Do everything and anything you can to protect yourself and your business!

so who is correct btw these 2 gentlemen, has anyone tried this parapet approach?. the conventional method has always being coming from the ground up, and if your tank is at least 10ft above the parapet, you would have good pressure everywhere. from my lil understanding of physics/hydraulics, this ground/conventional method will deliver more pressure than the high/parapet method..
